I am a long time MMO player but typically ave always played the fantasy mmo's.  Been playing since '99 back in Everquest.  I am burned out with anything else right now, took a month off and now looking for something different.

This game caught my eye because of how different it is and I used to read comics back in the day, and this is intreging.

Anyway I have a few questions I am hoping someone might be able to help me with:

1.  How does the worlds between CoH and CoV come together?  Is it like you buy one game, play on the same servers whoever owns CoH plays a good guy and whoever plays CoV plays a bad guy?

2. I am sure there is PvP, is it good? I used to play DAOC because of the PvP and rally am now looking for a casual friendly FUN PvP game... I guess the key to me is balance and people.

If anyone can help me figure out those dynamics I am sure I can figure out the rest with a little research.

Thanks for answers in advance.

PvP is a touchy subject, so I'm only to address this question.

The shorter answer: pretty much, yeah.

    The longer answer:

With the Good vs. Evil edition, you can now pay one price and get both games. Also, one subscription fee gives you access to both sides. Doesn't matter if you play all heroes or all villains or some mix of both - your costs are the same.

Villains and Heroes do share servers. For instance, on Virtue, I have 4 Villains and 6 Heroes as well as a couple empty character slots. It's a matter of personal preference, but this is pretty much what everyone does. If you wanted, you could choose to only play heroes on Guardian and only Villains on Protector. However, most people play both heroes and villains and have both on the same server so they can play with their friends no matter if they're feeling good or evil that day.

There are three general types of zones: heroes-only, villains-only, and cross-over. The cross-over zones can be broken down into co-op and PvP zones. There are a few zones where heroes and villains are allowed (and occasionally required) to cooperate to fight a common foe - such as the Rikti mother ship, Cimerora, or the Pocket D holiday events. PvP zones include the Arenas (staged matches for hero-hero or villain-villain combat), the Monkey Cage in Pocket D (for staged hero-villain combat), and the actual hero vs. villain PvP zones: Bloody Bay, Siren's Call, Warburg, Recluse's Victory.

There use to also be something called a "base raid" but those are currently not available. I've heard rumors that the base raids are coming back in Issue 14, but I'm not holding my breath.

The less you expect, the more you'll be surprised. Hopefully, pleasantly so.
