Playing Warhammer, convinced the wife and I to ditch it and return to DAOC. Don't get me wrong Warhammer is ok in its own right, but just seems a pale imitatiom.
True, DAOC is old and perhaps on its last legs. But my wife and I find it alot more fun than most of the other games out there.

Welcome back to DAoC and I understand what you and your wife mean about Warhammer Online.
I too loved Warhammer for the time I spent in it, but it became very stale and felt like a rinse and repeat type of game.
DAoC may not have all the eye candy that WAR has, but for being a game from 2001, the game graphics are by far better than alot
of the mmo junk we received currently in the last 5 years.
DAoC to me, despite its age, feel more like what a MMORPG should feel like (big world, lots to do and excitement around every corner). I guess this can contribute since the game has a excellent 3 faction system (Albion, Hiberia and Midgard). And things are always different when choosing a new faction.
Even if you burnout on DAoC, it seems like we always come back to it, sooner or later.
Welcome back.
I only lasted two weeks in Warhammer myself. I just found it boring and lost interest quickly, it's a very shallow game. I'll probably try it again in a few months to see if it has gotten any better, but am having fun in DAOC right now, so I'm in no hurry to go back.

I am certainly glad that there are multiple mmo offerings for the players out there.. Now why do we feel the need to let everyone else know that game X has just received 2 more subscriptions this month?
This is an mmorpg discussion forum not twitter.
DAOC needs all the free publicity it can get. I don't see a problem with it. Don't read it if it irritates you.....

Because people like me will see these threads and see that people are still interested in what I would have thought was a completely dead old game. It's relevant and significant because it's old.

Agreed.
I was skeptical about trying DAOC, but looking around forums and seeing returnees / new subs mentioned helped in my decision
Since Mythic won't promote the game its up to us subscribing players to do so. As to your comment if you don't like the post topic then why did you read it and complain about it? I personally like to see people coming back to this great game and enjoy reading about their experiences and helping whenever possible.
Alright, I just subbed 2 accounts . I purchased 2 5th anniversary editions from Ebay for 6 bucks a piece, my girl and I are through with War and are ready to fight in some real RvR. Last time I played was right before ToA came out, but im ready to get back into it. From what I've seen in the past few years NO games have what DAoC had to offer.
Classic or Standard ?
standard Pop seems kinda low.
oops! I meant Classic pop seems kinda low. standard looks great
any thoughts ?
It all depends on your playstyle.
If you don't care about low population and don't want to have to grind out all the TOA stuff to compete in rvr then go classic.
If you are looking to play with other people and don't mind TOA then go regular.
I personally rolled a character on both to try them both out.

I'd love to come back to DAOC, but I was a Mordred player, and there's no bringing it back unless Mythic ever decides to let people copy their characters over, then we'd see a big revival.
But its good to see people enjoying the game again, as WAR was a let down for those of us looking for a spiritual successor to the game.
