Trying to decide which to play. I've downloaded, played, and enjoy both although TCoS takes a lil getting use to.
Runes of Magic is prolly one of the best F2P game I've seen (better than some current P2P imo) and you can combine classes (Rouge/Healer anyone) xD which is nice, did I mention it was F2P also.
The Chronicles of Spellbourne is decent also (so far) but it is a bit "quirky" not in a bad way but just different with the Skilldeck and targeting, etc. however it becomes P2P to advance past lvl 7, which if it's good I don't mind doing. I can't play both and soon others will be out (Mortal Online, STO, SW:TOR). So I'm just trying to get a feel from others who've played both and what they think of them. I know that untimately it comes down to my taste etc. etc. but wanna know what others think cause I like my games populated .

i would play rom, i played tcos aswell but the game is def. not worth what it will cost you to play it imo and rom has more content and a better item system and if you want you can play play rom wihtout ever spending a dime all the item shop stuff is purely cosmetic or things that help you level or reset skills. Acclaim should just set a 15 dollar amonth script just like the rest of the p2p games. I am gonna play rom till aion comes out and then head to kotor.
I say TCoS. I personally haven't played it but it looks different than most P2P games out there. I suppose if your're low on cash and want a WoW type game with a few extra features than RoM.
Change is not always a good thing and spellborn cost more to play then any p2p out so yeah just either play rom or pay for a real p2p game not a lackluster one like tcos. The skillset thing becomes a annoyance more then a revolutionary gamplay feature as you progress farther take form someone that wasted money just to get past lvl 7
I just went through this exact debate and decided on TCoS. Why? Because its different and feels new to me. I enjoy RoM a lot as well, but it is hard to shake that "been there, done this" feeling as far as the quests go. RoM is a great game too, the dual class system is unique (to me at least), and I like the crafting system but, TCoS just feels "new" to me.
I just subed about an hour ago actually, was debating between a mount in RoM, or a month in TCoS. Spent about an hour in each game tonight and went TCoS. Both seem to be quality games and I think the answer to which is a better game is 100% up to the player and what they really are looking for in a game right now.
Now to find a guild...
TCOS looks like a upgraphics version of wow with a new interface...
for more $$ I think not.
played:WoW and Eve off and on 5 years
Tried:CoH/V, PoTBS, War, TR, STO, FE
TOR is likely to rock
Play both!
One is free to play RoM, the other TcoS is a pay to play,(but without having to buy the game 1st,(game is free)) pay for a month when you can afford it and play the other when you can't afford the sub on TcoS, simple.
This is why you don't follow this guy he subbed because it feels new that feeling wears of real fast in tcos and if you didnt catch it the skill system fliping action bar is cool till you get past 7, this imo is why they made the cap 7 for the trial.
Another WOW fanboy? haha
TCoS looks nothing like WoW
Good info from all. I'm leaning toward playing RoM. However I will at least play TCoS to lvl 7. If not thrilled by then RoM it is cause it seems pretty solid while TCoS is trying something new which hasn't bowled me over so far (and finding enough of those darn bears to kill when the server was filled was maddning).
Twistedfire hasnt eve played tcos his comments don't count Not to back up the fan boy cause wow is the worst mmorpg on the market.
Yeah that's a good way to act, forgive me for trying to help someone and stating an obvious fact.
whats funny is that your saying the game with the most subscribers and has more content than most except EQ and is currently thought of as the numba 1 mmo everywhere else as the worst on the market. your funny bro
most subscribers means there are alot of dumb people in the world cause wow is terribad, takes the intellect of a 5 year old to master.HMM where is it ranked number 1 anyway sure hell not on this website.
TCoS has twitch based combat. Twitch based combat alone makes TCoS better than RoM.
you barely have to aim to hit anything the hitboxes are huge just wait till the reticule is red and strike it's half ass twitch if that..and if you like twitch based comabt why not play hte better game ddo or conan.
Geez have any of you even played TCOS, its look and feel is absolutely nothing like WOW. People say every game is a wow clone as if wow isnt a clone itself they all copy each other to a degree, hello! But TCOS well im flabbergasted it looks nothing like, the combat is nothing like and the cost is nothing like wow or other p2p games. 15 bucks to play the full game you dont have to buy it wth.The graphics engine is great as well like LOTRO it runs smoothly on lower end systems while still looking great. I sometimes wonder if Im an alien or something when i read through this site at all the idiotic statetments and arguments.
No, you're not an alien, you just aren't operating on 'auto-pilot' mode like a good many of the posters here are. They just say stuff without thinking about it. They literally just...type without thinking, just to get words on the screen.
You're right though. Different graphics, highly stylized, totally different combat system, different movement system, but people will just see a "cartoony" mmo and without playing it will go "LOL WOW CLONE !!11!ELEVEN!!!" without thinking. They're like retarded monkeys chained to a pc, forced to type the first thing that pops into their shriveled little monkey brains.

Lol, good to know I am not alone here.
X-Fire.
BTW I decided on RoM. If I never see another F'ing BEAR in my life it'll be too soon. Also I think that if u want a game with Twitch combat AoC is the better choice not to mention it has the best Classes and Graphics in the business to date. If u don't have the machine to play AoC then by all means stick with TCoS.
you make me LOL!!!
look at your post!... how could anyone keep a straight face.
I've said it a million times before... you dont have to like WoW.... but to say that it is "bad" or "crap" or even to say it isnt number 1 is a joke.
I also think that it takes more to master your class in WoW than any other MMO I have played... between very intricate group mechanics, maxing out DPS, using crowd controls, stuns, spell interupts, cooldown abilities, potions, bandages, healthstones, buff decisions....... There is certainly a lot more to playing my WoW toons than there ever was to playing my EQ1 toons.... with only 8 spells memorized at any one time. I've played many others as well and I think WoW is the most intricate and nuanced.
Grymm
MMO addict in recovery!
EQ,SWG preCU,L2,EQ2,GW,CoH/CoV,V:SOH,
Aion,AoC,TR,WAR,EVE,BP,RIFT,WoW and others... no more!

Good for you, but what the heck does that have to do with Rom or Tcos?
TCoS actually gets better the higher lvl you go. Its a skill based game both in personal gaming skill and in planned tactics. Gear means very little apart from looking cool, skill means everything.
It also have gotten rid of the Holy Trinity which means that people group a lot more in it than other modern MMOs simply because you dont need to find a healer, tank and dps to function, any combination of people can do the content of the game. This btw shows that the grouping problem seen so much in the later year is not a function of people not liking grouping, its people not liking to waste time finding the right combination of people.
One thing that have me a little worried about TCoS though is that its a bit too much oriented towards PvP for my personal taste. Important material farming areas are all PvP zones even on a PvE server and since 4/5th of all players will be your enemy then it will become nasty there soon. And since the game use manual aiming and manual attack evading then PvP fights is a nightmare of running in circles and jumping around to avoid getting hit, not something an old guy like me is good at.
Anyway TCoS is IMO worth the 9 to 15 dollars a month is cost depending on how you pay for it.
