Is there a point in doing all the book quests? i mean i find myself running around everywhere just to do a couple of the book quests and not getting much other questing done, i'm only lvl 18 at mo but at this rate it will take forever to lvl.

The book quests are the main story arc. Following them will give you good rewards, access to fun instances, and alot of story to go along with it. You don't have to make them priority though, theres no reason you can't take a break from them and do other quests.
I just started doing the epic quests with my level 50 because I had been ignoring them. Great storylines! I am really enjoying them. I've now pretty much stopped doing everything else because I want to know what happens next :P ...some of the rewards are pretty good as well
