Argh, I still cant decide which profession

After having done much research, asked several friends who got into beta, checking here, checking the official forums, etc I still cant decide what to pick. I had the same problem with EQ2 and ended up hating the Prof I chose (Rogue) because he couldnt solo very well (even though people in beta said he could). Im looking for something that is the absolute best at PvE (could care less about PvP) and can solo the best also. Dont get me wrong, I plan on grouping some but only because I want to and not because I HAVE too.

Anyway, from what Im reading... Warlock is definitely out. Im not interested in having to collect soulstones (not sure if they're reusable) to use for spells. Seems like thats an added burden to have to rely on some loot item for spells. And it takes up much inventory space as well.

I considered Paladin but Im guessing the nerf bat is coming for them. Also from what I read, they're good for groups, good at PvP but just okay at PvE.

Warrior is definitely out for me, just not my style of play really.

Rogue is definitely out unless I hear from someone that they absolutely rule in solo play. Im not into the whole stealth sneaky thing unless pickpockets is something I can do at random to any NPC in-game and thus avoid having to buy ubber stuff.

Mage is interesting but Ive almost never liked wizard types in games because they cant solo well usually and their spells get interrupted forcing you to run a lot. And being weak defensivly means no solo play.

I think Hunter has me most curious bu again Im not happy with what I read. Seems Hunters title should be changed to Creature Handler and they're only as strong as their pets ? Is that true ?

Help !!!!

I played a Rogue, and I found that I could solo all quests yellow for me (up to +2/+3 monsters), so I'd think it is good enough. You deal a ton of damage.
But, the king of solo is the hunter. Sure, you have to train your pet (at least get it to keep the agro on the monsters) so you can snip the mobs from far away while it tanks. Even while I was lvling hardcore, I've found that hunters lvled a lot quicker.
About the warlocks, I'm not sure (didn't play one), but the one that we partied with, to get a soulshard she just used a spell on the monsters while the pet killed it (any monster that gave exp gave her a soulshard). Not sure how that did work tho, but I'm intrigued and will probably play one besides playing a rogue.

Hmmm like i said in some earlier post...Paladin is doing quite well in PvE....i was beating monster 2-3 lvl higher than me easily with 50%hp left and 90%mp left....Just have to get the right equipment!

There are "good" and "bad" things about every class (not profession - they're the things you do to make money; blacksmithing, tailoring etc) but there isn't one "best" class. If there was, everyone would play it.

You have to concentrate on the positive aspects of each class and decide whether the negative aspects are a price worth paying to you personally.

I'm gonna start with a Warlock myself as it suits my playstyle perfectly with constant management and strategy.

My suggestion is to just try a few out. You'll know when you've found "your" class. ::::28::
