I've played World of Warcraft for three years, yada, yada (insert personal bio). I've played Age of Conan, Runescape, Everquest 2, Guild Wars, Warhammer, Lord of the Rings Online and a dozen korean MMOs. I absolutely love the genre, but find that lately I can't adapt to one game. WoW is swept under the rug. I've played so many characters, have done so much. It would be beating an already dead horse to expand on it anymore. I've tried quitting the genre, but just come back craving the leveling and item process again. I do work full-time, but you know it is obviously if you've played an MMO before.
In the past year I've tried a number of MMOs. Let's see.
LOTRO - Beautiful game, tried it more recently, felt too 'story-book' based. It was fun, but felt like a single player game more than an expansive world with a vibrant community. I still rate this as a great game, all the same.
AoC - Another beautiful game, graphically, but from my experience months ago, (aside from its terrible UI), I couldn't stand how much of a grind things began later on, and how many texture glitches there were, combined with such a lack of end-game. I tried playing again two months ago, but couldn't for the life of me.
WAR - I hyped this baby, but ended up reaching mid way to the third tier and hated how laggy the game seemed to get, and how the population felt like it was decreasing on my server.
Korean/Free MMOs (Runes of Magic, Perfect World, Sword of the New World) Ugh, just feel so terribly unpolished, and not so much as a game other than a pure grind with no real motive or story, not to mention they all have the same graphics, the whole store scene and what not.
The main issue I have with new MMOs is that they feel like they're dying. You know that feeling you get when you've played WoW or COD4, where you know so many people are into the game, and enjoying it, that you're just assured even more than the game is great, well that feeling doesn't exist so much when you read of the population of your MMO only peaked at 100,000, dropping as the days go on. It leaves you feeling like the servers might get closed.
I recently tried Lotro and AoC, but have yet to try WAR again. Not sure if it changed or anything, but I haven't tried much of anything other than those two titles. I love the genre, but damn do things feel bleak right now in terms MMORPGs.
How do you feel about MMOs? Recently found a new MMO love? Any of the games I listed doing it for you?

A break from MMOs may be the best thing to do at this point. After playing so many MMOs for so long, many players start to notice the bad and breeze over the good. Take a month or two off, then come back into a game. WAR, AoC, whatever. I wager you will enjoy it more after a respite
Good Luck
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
The thing is though that I haven't extensively tried an MMO in months. I tried AoC/Lotro 2 months ago, but briefly as in 3 or 4 days for each game. I've had a huge break I think, but now I'm on the fence facing the main question : Which of the MMOs that I listed has the potential to take off the greatest.
Darkfall is truly a genuine MMOG.
Look at my Xfire sig.
Yep, there's nothing like EVE for feeling like you're playing a thriving game; just logging in and seeing"There are currently 40,351 players online" is a bit of a boost. The average WoW server has around 6,000 by comparison, and the level 80 restriction on most content means that the available "pool" of potential playmates can be as low as a couple of hundred.
141 hours this week though? .. that's pretty damn hardcore (or lots of AFK mining).
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
Hate to break it to ya but theres not much out there you havent tried except for maybe vanguard. TBH the only game worth waiting for right now is Secret Worlds, Champions Online, DC Universe or SWTOR. Im in the same boat as you and I just left Warhammer due to the same crap day in and day out.
Genuinely full of elitist idiots who will greif you for the sake of doing it. Worse MMO out there unless you want to play to Alpha Test something and pay for tthe privilage.
You might be well served to check out the free trial of The Chronicles Of Spellborn. I had about given up on MMORPGs myself when I stumbled on this one.
You can play up to level 7 with no time limitations in the trial....roll as many alts as you want. There's a PVE server with PVP, and an actual PVP server to choose from.
You've got nothing to lose by trying, except for potentially the most fun you've had in a long time.
