Do you like trying out new things and seeing new places? Are you always the first person to try out a new technology? If you answered yes to any of these questions, Lamannia might be the server for you!

Lamannia is a public preview server which will be opened periodically to test new content, before it is released to the live servers. To make Lamannia an easier transition for our players, if you log in you will find any of your recently played characters from your live account, dated back to December 29th 2008, waiting for you!

Your participation on Lamannia is optional and purely voluntary. In order to play on Lamannia, you must have an active DDO account and abide by the terms and conditions of the applicable license agreement, Terms of Service and Code of Conduct.

Playing on Lamannia requires the installation of a separate DDO TDM client. What is TDM you ask?

The Turbine Download Manager, (or TDM) makes it easier to get into our games and start playing, whether you’re a new player or a current player ready for new content. The Turbine Download Manager offers new players the opportunity to start playing the game before they have completed the entire download and installation of the game. Future versions of the Turbine Download Manager will offer current players the ability to automatically download patches through a process called “forward patching,” enabling them to play as soon as the servers open with new content!

Beginning on Lamannia, new players will experience a “tiered” download; meaning that after a relatively small initial download, they can jump right into character creation. While they’re creating their characters, the new player (Beach / Grotto) tutorial instance will download in the background; while they’re playing the tutorial instance, the public portion of Korthos Village will download, and while they’re playing through those first few Village quests, the Korthos Wilderness will download in the background, and then the full game. There may be brief periods of waiting while the next tier is downloading, particularly for new players with slower internet connections, but the wait time has been significantly reduced from the days when the entire game had to be downloaded and installed before a new player ever reached character creation!

* The Turbine Download Manager also offers the following features:

* Peer-to-peer downloading, allowing you to download files even faster

* More control over your download experience

* Set overall capacity and speed limits

* Schedule downloads by time of day and day of week

* Set limits based on what other applications you are running

* Pause and have the download automatically resume at a later time

* UPnP support (if your router and firewall support it and are configured correctly).

We encourage everyone to try creating a new character to help provide feedback on the incremental download, so we can polish this experience for new players!

To download the Lamannia TDM client, click here! Save this Lamannia client in a location different than your primary DDO client.

General Questions:

So, whats on Lamannia?

Lamannia is now live with a preview of Mod 9! Please click here to see the mod 9 release notes.

I'm on a Trial account. Can I play on Lamannia?

Sorry, but you must have an active DDO subscription in order to play on Lamannia.

Is there Customer Support on Lamannia?

The In-Game Team may be providing limited customer support on Lamannia, though GM’s will not be fixing quest issues, investigating lost items, et cetera.

All users must adhere to the Code of Conduct and Terms of Service while logged into Lamannia. Any violations of either the Code of Conduct or the Terms of Service resulting in disciplinary action which may occur on Lamannia will affect a user’s live DDO account as well. Bans on Lamannia will carry over to a user’s live DDO account. If you are experiencing difficulties with Lamannia, please check the Lamannia forums for assistance.

NOTE: Due to the fact that Lamannia is a preview server, Turbine cannot guarantee constant content functionality on Lamannia. Permanent character residence is also not guaranteed, as Lamannia may be subject to character wipes as they become necessary.

Still not the mod that'll make me come back as there isn't first person view camera option.

Hmm? Sure there is, exactly in Mod 9 . It was announced. Did you check it and you're sure?

Even if you checked it and seen there's no First Person view, it's only test server. But you should be able to scroll via the mouse wheel, zooming into FP view.

Tell me, why do you play DDO??

Just people be sure that's not very representative voice I quote, that person blasted all recent threads with info about upcoming content, and begs not to vote for Turbine . Something's wrong with that guy.

    Thanks for the vids!

Don't worry I played the game at launch and I know it's a FUN game. The combat system is even better than AoC one.

I have to admit, as many others players, I wish the setting would take place in forgotten realm world..

The only other issue I had is play time. With very your kids we can't afford to plan 2-3 hours of game play sessions in a row. That was an issue at higher levels.

A huge and very difficult improvement for the devs would be to let player save their session in the middle of a dungeon. I guess it's possible to do so but might be a too challenging task.

Yep, there sure is and from what I hear it's a seamless process to go from the standard view to the fps view.  Just roll you're whell on the mouse and it moves into first person view.
