Yeah, the EU servers are still pretty quiet. Hopefully they will recover once the word spreads that the IP block is gone. Once this game goes offically 'live' and gets a housefull of high profile reviews things will pick up for the guys thats play there I think.
I am from the UK and I play on the US servers.... No pop probs there for sure, and I like having a single language for community reasons. I also don't seemt to suffer any performace issues... Not saying other don't, just that i don't.
My advice? pay for a months play on the EU server. There isnt a box to buy, and you know you like it already, so it's worth a £10 punt on it picking up. If it dosent after that first month, come to the US server. Nothing lost.

There will be alot of ppl that will never goto the US servers, the official forums were alight when Acclaim was named as the publisher there.I know I am one of them.
It is nice they have finally dropped that stupid IP blocks that drove alot of long term fans away from this title,I followed this game for a longtime and was also 1 of a very few posters on this site that believed in the game,I still have alot of time for the game and the devs*wave to Mirage if he is reading*but I think I will give it sometime to see how it goes on the EU side and how the population goes from here.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Thats a shame Daylight... especially considering your past support and the fact that this is indeed a great game.
What the EU servers prolly really need right now is the faith and support of the 'wait and seers' to help get their numbers back up.
If people don't take the plunge, and just wait for others to, then who is gonna go first?
If noone goes first, then nothing will get better right?
Nice review there. After reading another thread earlier about this game I was kind of interested in trying it out but that review prompted me to start downloading the client straight away. I always tend to agree with the stuff you post so I expect that if you like this game then it will probably appeal to me as well.
You say you are in a guild called Radiance on the Acclaim server. I would be interested in joining you if thats ok.....after I have got me feet wet first of course. I usually dont bother with guilds in mmos but I thought it would be a nice change to give it a go for once. However I've come across a bit of a problem. Do I need to download a particular client from a particular website because it seems that the one I have only gives me access to two servers: Deiquonril (what a mouthful) and Dorzhan. Are these EU servers? How do I log onto the Acclaim server? Like yourself I'm in the UK by the way.
I downloaded my client from www.spellborn.acclaim.com by clicking on the big red "Download the game for free" button. It gave me two download options but they were both the same. Should I be downloading a different client from somewhere else?

We'd love to have you in Radiance.
You downlaoded the correct client, we are on the Dorzhan realm. Look Vesavius up ingame as "Iceberg" or me as "Slaiyne" and we'll get you situated.

Oh I'm glad to hear that. I really didnt fancy downloading another client.
I must say that the game looks absolutely gorgeous.....possibly some of the best presentation and visuals I have seen in an mmo so far. The character creation was also quite detailed.....well.....oddly it was sort of basic and yet it allowed for a lot of variation. I could turn out a wide variety of different characters that all looked rather good. The models are very well done and the animations are fluid and smooth.
I've just been through the tutorial and arrived in the first area. This game seems very different which is a refreshing change considering I had recently given up on mmos due to them being so god damn boring. I like the way I can arrange my skill deck as well. Rather nifty.
I created a human warrior called Draithus but I might roll up a few characters before sticking to one. I will send either of you a tell once I am "battle ready" as I hate not knowing what I am doing and holding people up
Im from the UK and had the delema of which client to pick
The US server does have a large community compared to the EU. Im hoping people from the EU or even the US (Hating Acclaim) will come over to the EU servers! (We do need the people lol)
Awesome game from what I have seen so far, im very impressed.

Well I am now on the Dorzhan (PvE) server and the community is good. There are plenty of people playing here and it seems to be a mix of people from all over the place. Loads of people are from the UK and various other countries. To be honest I'm glad I didnt go on the EU servers as I have heard they are dead in comparison to the US ones. In stead of waiting for people to leave the US servers (cos it isnt gonna happen) you should come over here instead and join our guild Radiance. My name is Draithus in game. We are mostly older players.....I think.
Hey all! I'm having a bit of a problem with the downloading of the game. the thing is, it won't install and the game forums don't work... Any of you know how to get around this? I really want to try this game. Thanx in advance!
You might need to be a bit more specific......are you having problems downloading the file or installing? The servers went down briefly yesterday and I noticed that when they did the forums went on the blink too. Have you tried installing the game again recently? The forums are working fine now as far as I can see.

I totally agree with the OP's review. Reqlly nailed it, both the ups and the downs. I'm a big fan of this game personally, and would encourage anyone "on the fence" about spellborn to go for it.

I don't know any other P2P mmorpg that has given the client ('box') away for free and let you trial it for free from day 1 of the launch...
I mean, you can buy 3mnths sub for this game for less then AoC or WAR cost you off the shelf, and unlike those games you get a good idea of what it is your buying based on your own experience...
Spot on review Vesavius, couldn't agree more on nearly all your points. I downloaded the Acclaim client on Friday and by Sunday I had bought a 3 month subscription. I'm not too far into the game yet as I have been playing around with the different classes, my highest levels are a 10/5 Wrathguard and a 10/4 Adept (blame Tiny for the 4 PeP on this one, lol), although I also have a 9/3 Runemage and a 8/4 Skinshifter as well as some other classes from 5 to 7.
My main is probably going to be one of my Warrior classes, but atm I can't decide wheather to concentrate on my Adept or my Wrathguard, both have pros and cons and are really fun to play. I am from the UK and I only have the occasional little bit of lag, nothing really serious. The game does look great, the art team outdid themeselves here. The combat system is great, I think the skilldeck is going to be easy to learn, but hard to master - which is another good thing if you ask me. PeP is a great addition, as others have said it really is the first time I have feared death in a long time.
Anyway, I'm heading back ingame need to get my Adepts PeP back, lol.

My advice: go with the Adept.....LOTS of fun. But don't get used to having high PEP....
...RingHELL awaits you...and it will crush any pride you have, and eat your PEP for breakfast.
Whargoul, as an adept here I'd have to agree hehe, especially about the ringhell part ^_^.
Great game, go try it people. Just make sure to go to at least level 15 before you write the game off as a failure if you don't like it--it gets a lot better the higher you go.
Thanks for posting your review. Its important to spread the word, this game is really fun and would be more fun if more poeple played along.
I agree.
Hopefully we will see Acclaim starting to do their part soon as well
I've been playing for a few days... the thing that boggles me the most is that I has NO IDEA that Chronocles of Spellborn was even released...!
I thought it was still in beta and have been waiting to see releass quality PvP and gameplay video. They certainly aren't marketing this game to well. Start with a nice 15 vs 15 PvP video... and then back it down to a dungeon raid... that video will garner massive attention to this game.
It's not in NA. It's still technically beta....BUT, they will do no character wipe at release, and you can sub now....it's basically a "stress test" for the servers and billing system, using the release client.
Confusing, I know....but who cares...we get to play NOW.
You probably won't regret it, this game is extremely fresh. Just make sure to play to bout level 15 before deciding not to pllay if you don't like it--the game picks up a ton.

Heh, yeah, it is quite confusing. Advertising I think is starting a little bit, I heard they were adverting here on MMORPG.
One of the best reviews ive read by a player in mmorpg, very nice.
And seeing the good and constructive replies by other TCoS players really got me the urge to download the game asap.
2hrs left on download and im so mmo starved atm.
