Like i said I am not into korean/Eastern mmos the likes of linage 2 and games like that I am more into westernized ones, EQ/ UO/ WOW etc.
but i gotta say this one looks very good, I even decided on a class to play the chanter. Do you guys think grouping in this game will be beneficial? Will we be penalized for grouping? Lowered Exp? Is there a ton of customization for characters?

I'm keen on Aion as well, even though most Eastern MMO's lack in good gameplay and end up being grind-fest arenas.
I have not played this game yet myself, however I have been following it closely.
I would say that grouping would be beneficial, Since there is PVP. So safety in numbers. Plus when grouped you get special combos I think they called them that either increase damage output or gives benifits to the group.
As far as costomization goes, I think that their Character creator is the best I have ever seen. Check out this video I found on Youtube.

Also for your gear they have dyes that you can use for custom looks. So over all I would think that you can be quite unique.

So far it suits my taste so well.
The graphics in Aion is the most attactive and amazing i've even seen.
However, theres news reports that Aion will be a F2P game in these days. ive no idea whether it will be as popular as it is now
I don't know about the F2P I think that may be wishful thinking from a lot of people. I am enjoying myself a lot playing in the beta even though I'm not too keen on the linear playstyle of it but maybe it opens up more when you get into higher zones, who knows.
The game isn't a grindfest. There are plenty of quests. and I don't know where you heard that it will be Free to Play but its not. It is Pay to Play in both Korea and China. There isn't a penalty for grouping. And Aion has TONS of customization. When making your character, you can edit everything except you cannot change your eye color in the different sets of eyes yet. But I think its in the Korean retail. You can also customize your armor at lvl 20+. Say you get new armor but you don't like the look of it. You can transfer the "stats" of the new armor to an armor piece that looks better.
I think he is talking about Russia, all games that are released there are F2P. If Aion ever does launch there then yea probably will be F2P.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
NC Soft (and I'm quite sure many other developers) have never released a game that's P2P in some countries F2P in others. It'll be P2P, and Russia would fall under it's "global" servers.

Where have you been for the last 5 years?

Thats not true, NCsoft sold the L2 license in Russia to some company who made the game F2P, but with huge rewards for those who pay, 5 years after the release, though.

Well if they sell the license, that's a different story. If you'd rather wait for a game 5 years after launch just so you can play it for free.. well, let's just say that's a bit pathethic.. :P
Just pointing out, not trying to diss your point tho

I think City of Heroes, has a great Character creator, I hate Champions, Think the characters look awful, Well just don't like that cell shaded look.
But I still say that AIon's is even better than those you mentioned. My opinion of course.

No! it will be a P2P mmo soon, at a higher price compared to WOW
It's nice to see a positive thread from a different perspective! I'd think grouping is encouraged but not forced. So while you can do both there are definite benefits to grouping and having a posse around. :0) The main missions or quests need to be completed in group, you probably would want friends in case of portals bringing in enemies of the other faction, and in the Abyss it's bound to be very group oriented..
Best customization in a video game yet, no question, the only thing CoX would have are costumes, but in this game it wouldn't make any sense. If you take away the costumes in CoH then Aion beats it hands down.
(,,,)=^__^=(,,,)
yeah same. Aion is really good. i 'm playing china aion until us release.
I just started playing the China Beta today and I now know for sure that this will be my game of the future. Been waiting years for this game and I am glad I am getting a chance to check it out now while waiting for the US release.

cox is a two sided blade in customization, on one hand they have lots of costume options (even though many many combinations look ugly as hell and at least 50% of people flying/jumping/speeding/tping around look horrible), but these options really only replace all the armor available in other games, the customization that concerns the actual body is practically non existent, there is also no way to make a character that looks in anyway close to reality, 90% of the population of cox is grossly out of any proportions, the rest is just pretty bad out of proportion.
in aion i can for the first time actually make a small chested girl with a big round butt and some fat in her stomach region, in contrast to the either anorexic or hyper athletic bodies every other game makes you use. thank you aion.
Undoubtly, Korean MMOs always do excellently in the aspects of graphics and sound
