This is not intended to be a discussion of whether one version is better than the other, Free to Play, or Pay to Play.
I am simply curious if people like both types of games, or only prefer one or the other. For me, the Free to Play with an item mall ruins my game experience, so I only like Pay to Play. In other words, if you start out with a great MMORPG, then add an Item Mall, for me the game is ruined. Others might not care about how you pay for the game, whether monthly or item mall, so they would play either one just depending on if they like the game design.
If you don't like both types of games, and you don't like one or the other, then you fall outside of the poll and your response would not be relevant. For example, you want a game that is based on lottery tickets, or you can pluck chickens to pay for your subscription, that would not be relevant to this poll.

Don't care. If I think it's a good game, then the payment method doesn't matter to me.
Currently restarting World of Warcraft
Lately I like F2P as long as the item mall sells things that mainly just make the game less of grind to play. If the very best stuff is a pay only option then not sure thats the best.
I see the item mall as a solution to the issue of "standing" in most MMO type games is purely a measure of how may hour.days you have played. Someone with a job can a least attempt to keep up with the no life basement dwellers.
The best option which I have not seen is P2P with a cap of maximum number of hours per character. with unlimited characters. This would allow you to play as much as you like but reward those you play more effectively rather than those who can sleep the least.
It really depends on the game. Unfortunately I haven't found a F2P game that has held my interest for as long as P2P games.
Playing - FFXIV, ESO
Played - FFXI, WoW, Lineage 2, Guild Wars, Aion, SWToR, LotRO, GW2, TERA, Rift, ArcheAge, TSW
I have experienced F2P games to be rubbish and exellent. Same goes for P2P.
I mostly play pay to play games. I'm not opposed to "free to play" on principle, but if it's free to lose and pay quite a lot to win, that's a big problem.
I currently cannot find a game that's worth paying for.So......I don't.
This is sort of a problem for me as I don't mind the free to play model with cash shop (as I don't really have to use it if I don't want) but I have yet to try one of these that was a good game.
What usually ends up happening is that these free to play games seem quickly thrown together solely for the purpose of implementing a cash shop, making money and then moving on to the next one.
