Question about zone channels.

RavenRaven Member UncommonPosts: 2,005

So I have been playing the CN OB since yesterday, the game looks absolutely amazing but there is one thing that keeps bothering me, I have noticed every zone has 7 channels (7 copies of itself) and that you can hope around the channels (there is a 10sec delay), is this a thing just for the starter areas or is the game going to be all like this? The only place I have noticed that there are no channels so far are the main cities.

It's just for the first few map's. They do this to avoid overcrowding in the noob area's. I think when the game / server matures and you have less people then they will remove the channels.

Yeah I was kind of dissapointed to see that the zones were isntanced but at least you can switch between them pretty easy to play with friends. I'm only level 15 though and I hope to see that when the zones get larger they do less instancing... I'm assuming that the cities arent instanced since it was packed full of people when I went to do my asencion quest. All I could think of when I saw it was instanced was Age of Conan and my head started to hurt, but it's all good now.

The zones are not instanced, they are channeled.  There is a big difference between the two.  Aion has instances and they can be found in the dungeon content.

The first areas, up until level 20 when the PvP starts are channeled, the difference between instance and channel is that you can swap them as you like, and that channels adapt to the ammount of people there are, more people, more channels, few people, no channels.

This is only to advoid the initial rush of people, where you cant even find quest mobs and what not, obviously, when the PvP starts, as I pointed out, they dissapear, so people don't have to swap channels in order to find a little bit of action.
