Hi all
I played this game when it was released, and the bugs and performance issues didn't really bother me, it was more that it was kinda boring for me. Pretty linear quests and lack of content killed it for me.
Now I'm thinking of getting back into it, and I heard they opened a new server not long ago called Skullcrusher? ( I'm from Denmark, so I play on EU servers) How is that server, does it have a healthy population?
Or would you recommend another server for my PvP needs?
How is the population in general in AoC?, is there many people playing it now?, or is it kinda dieing?, it's pretty important for me that the game I play is very active, so there's no way I'm going to play it if it's half dead.
Did they add more content and quests?, I found it very hard to find quests at one point I remember.
And last but not least, how does the game perform these days? Has the performance increased?.
I remember I ran it pretty alrite on my laptop, but I kinda hoped it would run better, with these specs:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T8300 @ 2.40GHz
3.0 GB Ram
Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, 32-bit
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
175 gb free disk space
How well would it run with these specs?
Hopefully I'll get some nice answers, thanks

hej bekendt.
* Skullcrusher is a fresh start server. Population is a little lower than the regular PvP ones if you into that because Skullcrusher is not as old. haven't played there myself so I can't really comment on that particular server in game. Just that it is a few months old and maybe someone might recommend another PvP server for you.
*Population overall is not to bad from the experiences I have had across 4 different servers. Granted you only really need to know how well the server your doing is like. Because you can get a 7 / 14 day free trial at the moment best to create a few toons on some and see what like for yourself. Otherwise read the official forums server specific area's to get an idea. All we have is our own personal experiences and not everyone has characters on every server. It is safe to say the pop in EU is more than NA because of the different language servers. As far as I am aware from speaking with lots of people from the English speaking EU servers things are good now the merges took place.
*Paid transfers will be coming in a few months most likely, if you pick Skullcrusher you have to start afresh and can't more your old character there.
*There have been a ton of quests added, new playfields too. Many people comment now that there is no shortage of quests and if there is it really is only in the late 70's, from which another new playfield Tarantia commons will fix. (currently on test server getting good impressions)
* Same thing with performance, you will be find with the system you have on not the best or worst setting but the game has been optimized quite a bit over the last half a year. You will be fine maybe on high setting with some things turned down or off, or even on medium with some things pumped up.
Really recommend giving the trial a go for free and doing a bit more research on the official forums server specific area's for better background.
Good Luck!
Sorry if i steal chars from the new server now , but i am honest to god when i tell you , if you want PVP go Fury, skullcrusher might be abit easier on the leveling , but go fury for PVP fun( with all that includes , getting ganked like crazy etc , ( tip for new players: you dont really have to go to white sands to get out of tortage )
I havent been updated lately about skullcrushers activity level after the free trials started so please don't take my word as a final decision, hopefully someone will correct my madness :P
As for additional content , the bad parts around level 50 - 70 have been removed by introducing an additional zone Ymirs pass, and one more wing in the blackwing citadel has opened if your thinking end game.( there is still some missing or grinding levels in the 70's tough, which hopefullt will be resolved in the 1.5 patch with the common district )
I have a very similar rig and run with highest DX9 settings...shadows off......45-100 FPS
