So what do you think is the best free to play mmorpg out there and why?

I personnaly think its Runes of magic because of many  interesting quests, nice looking world and gear.

There really isn't a best free2play game. They all seem to follow the same path so I would go with all of them. If your looking for the best game out on the market right now, TCoS all the way. It's atleast different enough to not be called a WoW clone. Which is a good thing in this day and age. It's freemium up to level 7.9, with that possibly going up to level 11 once it gets out of Open Beta. Runes of Magic is okay, but it really is not that much different than any other free2play game. Once you hit the max level, if you want to have a chance in PvP or endgame instances, your going to need cashola. And don't tell me I am wrong, I have a level 50 warrior/26 rogue on Osha. I've been playing Runes since it's conception as Radiant Arcana back in the day.

I agree. RoM is probably the best F2P game currently available.  I'm currently hooked on Ether Saga Online though.heh  Perfect World is also good.  But yeah RoM beats those two no problem.  I need to get back into RoM.

TCoS is ok.  I found the world to be rather bland and boring.  Not enough going on in that game to keep me around. The combat system was interesting but it's really not that much different from any other MMO.  RYL has even faster combat than TCoS. I'm most looking forward to Crime Craft right now myself. Also APB looks really good too.

In my eyes it's Runes of Magics or Atlantica Online.

Since when is TCOS f2p? It has a f2p trial, then after that you have to sub up.

Unless something has changed in the past week that I dont know about.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
    Now Playing: N/A
    Worst MMO: FFXIV
    Favorite MMO: FFXI

Many free to play mmo-s have big problems with grind. There is just too much grind.

Thats where Runes of magic beats most.  Atlantica is also good in terms of grinding.

Although Atlantica lacks something. Many towns look the same and map is kinda boring.

Only thing that ROM lacks is pvp.

Sword of the new world. Action based.

    Runes of Magic.. Traditional

    Atlantica Online. Turn based

    Rising Force Online. Traditional

Ace Online(flysis, space cowboy, air rivals, etc.) Action based.

RFO and RoM are the only "traditional" MMORPGs, while the others are quite a bit different. I've had good fun with all of these games.

I really could not call any of the currently available free to play mmorpgs '"best'". But I am really looking forward to www.freerealms.com and www.eartheternal.com  . Definitley keep an eye out on those two titles , they look really promising.

Personally, I love Billy vs Snakeman MMORPG.  Its a Anime/Pop Culture Parody Game that is heavy into item uses for character development, is stamina based (x per day).  It has a great community, and is fun.

Perfect World and Priston Tale 2 are the best ftps.

Knight Online before big esxpansion pack  now it sucks...

  • RaitsesmanRaitsesman Member UncommonPosts: 215

Priston Tale 2 is a good looking game, but so far I have seen, it lacks quests and is  too much based on grind.

    Sword of the New World

    Atlantica Online

    ACE Online

    Florensia

The first three offer refreshingly different gameplay, and Florensia has a really fun community.
