Just a gut feeling that the game will be HEAVILY imbalanced. First, look all the 2 side PVP games are most mature players chose "evil" (in the broadest sense). Most kiddies play Allies, the mature crowd Horde, same with WAR and even in PotBS "Pirates" were quite overplayed.
Now with BH limited to Empire and Sith I fear Jedi will quite stand out on the good side. I mean, what class can stand out at the Republic side equally? Smugglers? Spies? Doctors?? I somehow fear Jedi will get a bloody nose on most servers. Maybe expect at an RP server.
Still, so far with the many crime places and the many evil cartels presented, Seperatists, Hutts, Mandos... doesnt look good for Jedi and the Republic.

Do you start off in you class or grow into a class by making decisions in game play?
You realize that there will be Sith in the game correct? The Jedi, with the red light sabers?
I understand that originally the Sith were a race, but this game takes place after the Dark Jedi and Sith had their gene pools essentially merged by generations of cross breeding and this game takes place at a time when Sith is basically a term for a Dark Jedi.

It won't be unbalanced, the jedi will be fine.

This thread is pretty silly, but I'd like to point out that good guys don't attract immature plays and evil guys don't attract mature. Evil attract both and if anything good attract a little more mature. The only reason Allies had a lot of kiddies was because Allies had Night Elves and we can thank Legolas to kids everywhere liking elves.
Alittle off, its generally 12 year olds that play Horde/Destro/Evil Toons. So when you revise it, its the Immature that generally play the evil side in games.

This goes against the entire ethos of the guild I was part of since SWG, we actively aimed to play on the side of evil, or the portrayed evil side depending on your view.
SWG we played Imperial, in WoW we played the Horde and in WAR we played Destro, yet the average age of our guild members is 30, I'm 39 and we have much older.
I have always believed and still do that the evil side are the underdogs, the side less played and so at a disadvantage from the outset and this is what attracts me to that side, aswell as the fact it's much more fun to play evil than good, for me anyway and the rest of my old guild Northstar Alliance.
The Horde are not evil nor the bad guys. Sheesh, at least play the RTS games to learn about the lore. THe reason so many people play alli over horde is the cuteness factor. THere were no cute races till TBC. Then you see a slow balanceing of the populations after that.

What?? I can say for a fact I was the youngest by far in the group of players I met and hung out with playing Horde, and I was 21. The majority of the players in my guild were my age or older. Can't say the same for the Alliance.
But I don't think it is so much "Evil vs. Good" that attracts the kids, but, in WoW's case, it was the pretty races of the Alliance that attracted the kids. I can't really use my other game in which I socialized with people as evidence, because that was SWG, and nearly everyone on both sides was older and mature.

Well, I am definitely going to play Republic (notice, I did not say good
), but perhaps, I am just a child at heart...
P. S. I must admit, I am also intrigued by the idea of playing a good character in a bad place and whether you could survive in the Empire as a dissenter. It really depends on what other classes they are going to introduce, because neither Sith nor Bounty Hunter would really work with such a story line.

Sith: 40-48%
Sith + Bounty Hunters > Jedi thats the scary thing. Hopefully there is a Law Enforcement class to combat Bounty Hunters.
Sith and Bounty Hunters going after Jedi will be a bashing.
Jeez, can we at least wait until all the classes are announced before we start worrying about faction balance?
This era in the Star Wars World is a time in which jedi and dark jedi are very numerous. There wont be an issue because there will be a huge flop of jedi on both sides, so essentially it will even out.

Talk about a joke Batman. For you to insist you know so much, in various threads Abe, vs those of us that were around when you were an itch in your dads pants is priceless. Some of us around here have been playing video games longer than you have been on this Earth.
Perhaps when you actually experience what adult life is about, then you will understand why sandboxes will always be a niche thing in MMO gaming. In the meantime you can spare us your trademarked word of "stupid" in every other post. Cause from where I am sitting, only a moron would think they know so much so early in life....especially as it goes against known facts when it comes to sandboxes.

As far as Elikal's worries...There is no way BW makes their game open PvP. The game is being marketed to general gamers, and the quickest way to run them off is by letting the gank wolves get a hold of them.
There may well be dedicated open PvP servers, but just as in EQ, I see no way they hold a candle to the PvE ones. Especially if there is BGs/RvR play included.
With that being the case, I just dont see where the numbers thing will be that big a deal if the Republic doesnt offer a class as attractive as BH.
BTW...I wonder how many HK model BH droids are made if they allow it? I hope they are in one way or another, as a KOTOR game without talk of "meatbags" just wouldnt seem as "Star Warsy" heh. Seriously....I hope they nab the same guy to do the voice as well.

Well if I get this game. I will try out the jedi and maybe have a jedi toon, But I will play something else like BH, Commando, or something interesting.
Why should it be imbalanced, simply give the good guys harder hits.
if they make this game anything like SWG, where the jedi class was the best and most overpowered class, then this game will suck ballz.
all the kids watch the movies and dream to be a jedi, never thinking about how their overpowered pos class ruins the whole game. doesnt matter how overpowered the class is as long as they get to be a jedi and beat everyone.

Ok... then leave this forum and stop wasting your time. You are apparently fed up with a game that was created and run by completely different people. Sure there are some devs that wroked on SWG *I have read* but it has already been announced that due to the fact that Jedi and Sith were common, that they are going to be balanced with all the other classes. I don't mind the rants on this forum and thew idiotic worrying, but I do not like to read a post that simply ends with "I am not playing this game or any like it ever" that is just a waste of yours annd our time. Hopefully you aren't a 30 year old who just is fed up with your job (if you have one) that comes home (if you live with someone other than mom and dad) and bitches on the forums to feel special. If you don't care to play this MMO then let it go... you are obviously still having problems with this virtual "break up" if you are still crying about it BEFORE THE DARN THING IS RELEASED! There will still be 7 classes to be released for Republic and 6 more for Sith Empire. Worrying about imbalance and who will play what at this point is completely pointless. If there are 8 classes for each side sure you will probably see alot of jedi/sith being played but for sure there will be alot of variation , if you have a problem with more people playing the jedi/sith classes then the others you really need to find another game to follow. Frankly if your this worried about these things already with how little info they have released I would suggest you just walk away from this game.
