Race specific Spells for Priests

KingGrowlKingGrowl Member UncommonPosts: 237

Race Specific Spells
There are some spells available only to certain races by completing quests:

* Desperate Prayer (Level 10). (Dwarf/Human only.)
* Starshards (Level 10). (Night Elf only.)
* Touch of Weakness (Level 10). (Undead only.)
* Hex of Weakness (Level 10). (Troll only.)
* Fear Ward (Level 20). (Dwarf only.)
* Feedback (Level 20). (Human only.)
* Elune's Grace (Level 20). (Night Elf only.)
* Devouring Plague (Level 20). (Undead only.)
* Shadowguard (Level 20). (Troll only.)

This doesnt seem fair. Its not like Priests where a weak class or anything, why would priests get Race specific spells why NO OTHER Class get s it? The only thing i can think of is that they plan to this for every class but havtn gotten around to it yet.

What do you guys think?

Im going Undead Priest, and true to form, i will "devour" all!!! MUHAHAHA!.

ummm...yeah, actually i think voted option 1 as well, would be cool to see this idea spread over multiple classes and race types.

I actualy think Priest are the most underpowered class there is (yes I understand priests arn't supposta be powerful). I mean when half the other classes get quite attiquite forms of healing and buffing, and theres the alchemy/cooking/fishing trade skills that everyone gets (only some will choose alchemy, but they DO get fishing and cooking). Not to mention how many classes have a form of resurrect.

I think a good balancer for the priest class would be to have the ONLY form of combat resurrection (aside from soul stones). They had a talent called combat resurrection, but I'm not sure if that enables you to resurrect in combat as of the update (It used to just resurrect with more hp/mp and less sickness time) .

And they most definatly need some sort of pre level 20 soloing skills (since noone really bothers grouping or needs much healing untill after 20)

But I must say Desprate Prayer is most awsome at the early levels I made it to in OB

I can see how they gave the priests these different spells, after all Undead and Human priests are not and should not be exactly the same. The trolls have always had stranger "witch doctor" type priests etc. I could see the race specifics growing to other classes as well, although it might destroy the delicate balance in the game.
Warlocks: Orcs have some ancient orc spell (Ner'Zhul's curse, Gul'dan's demon gate, or something or the other), humans could have something from Medvih the conjurer (Medvih's portal, etc), gnomes could get some weird spell, undead perhaps some kind of necromancy spell or something from varimathras' repertiore.
Mages: Humans could perhaps conjure the annoying water elemental (of course he'd be a lot weaker than Warlock summons, but useful nonetheless), Gnomes could get some weird and silly spell, trolls could get some charm-esque voodoo spell, undead some kind of weakening or frightening charm.
Druids: Tauren could get some kind of shrubbery spell, NE could get a new shapeshifting form.
Shaman: Orcs could get something to make them go crazy in combat, trolls could get yet another totem/ward.
Pallies: Don't give a darn but Humans could recevie ulther's blessing from the sky and dwarves some kind of titan blessing.
The thing is all of these would need massive amounts of balancing. And balancing is not what blizzard wants when the game is already released. Perhaps they might test these things on EU beta servers but I doubt they'll have the time to. I think they went for priest race specifics since priests are the most differring between races and the racial abilities give way to them going the way blizzard would like to see with every race (undead will most likely go shadow as will trolls, dwarves discipline, humans holy).

But would priests have the spells and no other classes having them be unbalanced.........?

Ah. I see. I thouught maybe each class got some spells via quests also; not only priests. My mistake. ::::31::

Cool! .. I didn't even know about the race specific spells for the priest until I read this post.

I like the idea and I definitely would like to see it extend to other classes.

I, for one, would like to see different pets for Warlock going from the Horde to the Alliance. Remember Warcraft I anyone? image

It would also me cool if there were certain beasts only hunters from a specific race could tame ... and have them in the oposite faction territory  to make it more of a quest to get those pets! image

Well its not alchemy, its "first aid"... Alchemy is a main Profession

First Aid, Cooking, Fishing = Survival Skills

    Alchemy, Blacksmithing,... = Profession

  • I think they made race specific spells to help show the difference between priests, for example a human priest doesn't have the same beliefs as an undead priest. So they show that by giving them race specific spells.

Arent there any quests for tauren to get new skills... its kinda unfair if some races have em and others dont...

  • glendrinkerglendrinker Member Posts: 3

    Tauren can't be priests

  • apocalanceapocalance Member UncommonPosts: 1,073

That listing looks like it was pulled from the "more information" section regarding priests on the official site. If you haven't spent a lot of time there rummaging through their site, you should, they have a huge amount of detail there, especially compared to how other MMO's started out with very vague or just limited information.

Screenshots and videos are necessary for first impressions, but what you can't see in them are the things that matter the most.
