ok this is a poll on which MMORPG will be top dog for 2009. The games I chose to put in are the ones I have most heard about being a casual gamer - sorry if i missed a game.
The games not realeased yet are from what I herd ment to realease this year.
Please also think about the future appeal, eg Is this game still gona be strong in 2010?

fail poll since you added darkfall i can only tell that your a nub and not take you seriously:P
Darkfall was released on the 22nd Jan 2009 but the OB was before... so its not a failed poll
Free Realms!
=P
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S

I think he was referring to his opinion of DFO. As in it being too horrible of a game to be on a "best of" list.
I am currently playing AION Chinese Version and I am amazed at how well put together this game is so thats my vote. Also games like Runes Of Magic and Ether Saga are not even in the same league as the other games other than Darkfall maybe so they should not even be on the list.
If SOE can pull it off then Free Realms is gonna be great for kids. I just saw the trailer with the go karts and thats been something I've wanted in WoW on the shimmering flats for ages. I also like how you can switch classes on the fly eliminating the need to grind ALTS which is something I've wanted in WoW too lol.
Btw that list of mmorpgs is lame and Stargate worlds ain't ever coming out.
It will be Aion, even a year after the Korean release the game will eclipse everything we've seen in the last four years easily. Build quality is unbelieveable, even if you don't like the style of game (think WoW with decent PvP), it is a very polished well made game.
Playing on the Chinese version I get max 2 second delay on skills, no client crashes, no server crashes, max settings. Compared to WAR, where T4 is almost unplayable at peak times!
Of course I'd rather have TERA, but that isn't going to happen this year

2 second delay? That's unplayable, 2000 ms latency...
Jumpgate Evolution hopefully , i keep hoping for that beta email

While Aion might end up being the best MMO of the year, it will just be because nothing else good comes out in 2009. I don't expect the game to ever do very well in North America, TERA either for that matter. If they want us to believe that not all Korean games are exactly the same, maybe they should stop making them all look exactly the same.

With the way games have been launching of late, a game released in 2009 will not really be ready to play until 2010, so maybe that is what the OP should be asking.
Which game launched in 2009 will turn into the best game of 2010?
""But Coyote, you could learn! You only prefer keyboard and mouse because that's all you've ever known!" You might say right before you hug a rainforest and walk in sandals to your drum circle where you're trying to raise group consciousness of ladybugs or whatever it is you dirty goddamn hippies do when you're not busy smoking pot and smelling bad."
Coyote's Howling: Death of the Computer
What's with all the troll threads lately?! Oh yeah I guess the kids get 2 weeks off for Easter.
Had to remove signature because of lame code of conduct...
What about Fallen Earth or Earthrise? And, Stargate Worlds won't be out this year, if ever.
So many Aion fans, 4 classes 2 races, everyone looks exactly the same once the facial differences are excluded, yet another cookie cutter Korean grinder, until the Koreans figure out western markets they are going to keep on repeating the same mistakes with every single game they pump out no matter how many they make or how good they look.
Once players get over the novelty of the amazing graphics the game will fall flat on it's face, & the botters, hackers & farmers will kill the game long before that even happens, so far, Koreans make games for Koreans, you either like Korean game stye or you don't & has been proven every other time so far, most westerners do not.
And 2 second delay? seriously you are dead already in 2 seconds in PvP.
If Aion is a Korean grinder as you state, then so is World of Warcraft. The PvE and level progression is identical between the two games, infact, I think Aion actually levels quicker.
For reference, in WAR at the moment in T4 when there are at least two warbands engaging in a fight there is around a 5 second delay on skills.
EDIT: But whatever, you don't have to believe me, you will see for yourself when it comes out.

i was lol
Everything coming out is just more grinding and more garbage. Nothing looks good.
Have to agree about Freerealms, my daughter is fit to burst while waiting for it to release, in the meantime she is playing Wizard 101 and we just paid for a subscription which she is over the moon about.
Ya, those are two really big ones. How could you leave them out?

No.. WoW is a western grinder... see the difference?
That thing you said about two warbands meeting in WAR causing a 5 second delay is just patently untrue. There are issues with city siege in T4, but it takes way more than 4 warbands in an area to cause the game to run the way you say it does. You see that many people at keep sieges all the time without any noticeable delay in skills firing.

There is a problem with polls like this. For me personally its Chronicle of Spellborn but I am convinced the best made one is Aion.
Problem is what is best for you wont be best for the next guy. So saying any MMO is the best is silly. Most popular might make sense but that again doesnt say anything about whether or not the game is a good game for YOU to play.
"You are the hero our legends have foretold will save our tribe, therefore please go kill 10 pigs."
Do you play WAR on NA or EU servers? On the EU servers, its pretty unplayable in T4 at the moment.
Aion was released in 2008 so it can fit in the best 2009 MMO category as you say
It will be Aion but IMO Aion = pay version of Perfect world....
Free Realms cause the rest are shit and even though I wont play Free Realms cause it's for kids, it's really well made and refreshing.
