It's not quite over yet, but will be soon. So I wanted to make a general thread here to see how everyone felt about it. The good and the bad. Was it everything you wanted? Or were you disappointed?
Personally I felt like I got almost everything from the game that I wanted and expected. It had a few areas that I thought could be made better but I wouldn't say they were issues, just spots where the game could be better. It also had a lot of things in it that I hadn't expected, and greatly enjoyed.
Combat: As far as combat goes, I can say that it's pretty. Melee attacks have great animations and I love it that they are varied animations. No 2 moves are identical. Cast animation was great, the wind effects on your character when casting never got old for me. My only real issue with combat was not having an input queue for your attacks. When I'd cast a spell I had to wait the full time for the global cool down before recasting. Hitting the key just a second too soon resulted in my Sorc just staring at the mobs while they approached. With the system being combo based it made it feel a bit less fluid when you have that short delay. Just making it so a spell casting attempt would occur twice if the input was pressed while still on CD would alleviate this issue completely.
Graphics: I don't think I need to say much here honestly. The game looks beautiful. Character animations were great, the idle animations went beyond what is the standard. By a mile. Conjuring umbrella's in the rain, great touch!
Questing: I've read a few complaints about the quests so far. Most of the complaints reference the "Go here kill X come back" style quests. At the worst this is par for the course. However I was more than happy with the other variety offered by quests. Gathering items for a quest occurred fairly often. One quest in the starting area stands out to me. It began with an item drop from an enemy. Continued to you finding an axe, pulling it out of a tree and answering questions to a man that appears in the pond that the axe lands in. If you read the item drop you would know what to do, if not then you didn't. Honestly, I know that most people who have played video games for most of their life know that honestly is usually rewarded, even in games. Still it was a nice variation. In the end, for almost all mmo's, your quests are going to involve killing mobs. It's the point of the game.
General: Some other stuff I enjoyed, or didn't, that don't fall in a specific category. The character creation is hands-down the best I've seen. The game performance from Ohio to China was great. I experienced rubber banding 3 or 4 times and only a small amount of lag and only in high population areas. My only general complaints were the few times that the controls didn't respond. When I would have to click on a corpse 3 or 4 times to open the loot interface. Or when I'd auto approach to loot something and the looting would proceed. I can't be sure if that was bad programming or the cross seas lag so I won't really gripe until I can see if it happens when the game hits shelves here in the States. I also feel like they could include another archetype for classes, but I'm forever complaining about limited class selection, only FFXI has pleased me with classes.
Overall I really loved the game. I'm not sure if NCSoft made the English patch or if it was done outside of the game, but thanks to whomever made it. I love getting a chance to avoid being duped for 60 bucks for a terrible game. I won't be this time. I'll be spending 60 bucks on a game that I know I'll enjoy for a long time. Or at least until The Secret World comes out...

Really.
I enjoyed it. I think it shows that you can still make a decent title using the classic MMO formulae. I didn't go into the game expecting to be blown away by ground-breaking features so there was no room for disappointment, if anything, I was surprised at how smooth everything was, and polished.
Not sure if I'll be paying for the CN version or not, I've honestly debated it, but I think I'll just wait for the NA version. *fingers crossed*
I am also looking forward to playing this game. Any idea when it will be released for NA? Last i saw was September, but was hoping it would be closing in sooner if beta is ending.
Both my wife and I enjoyed Aion alot. The game just felt 'ready', even compared to WAR 6 months after release.
As stated already, combat was crisp and smooth, animations looked great. The lack of an ability queue was slightly annoying, but it just took some getting used to. The hotbar automatically changing to the next available skill in the skillchains was a great feature.
Animations were excellent, I was expecting this though and was not disappointed.
The quests AND missions giving XP and coin rewards were excellent. The cutscenes, while short, added alot to the leveling of the character. Nothing too ground breaking in general, but more or less what you expect from MMO quests.
The classes all felt very different from each other, and the ascension quest was a nice short, but effective questline to kick you into the next version of the class. I missed a few skills after I changed to a Templar for the first time since there were so many other abilities, and gladiator abilities showed aswell. Had to select the 'Templar' button my second time through to clear things up a bit.
Not to worried about endgame, since unlike WAR and WoW, the game is already live elsewhere, and there is footage on youtube and whatnot showing the raid bosses of various levels. The Keep system for the game sounds awesome, much better then WARs, and actually serves a purpose.
Overall, I am impressed wtih Aion, and placed my preorders for the game. I am not expcting a WoW killer, but certainly feels like a successful MMO should.

I didn't mean to imply that I would be buying the CN version. I won't get the game until it hits state side.
I'm aching for this game. But not that much that I would actually buy the CN version and put up with the lag and.....chinese people xD.
Still........6 months is a long way to go.

I didn't mean to imply that I thought you were implying that.
There is no buying the CN version, you just subscribe to it (or time cards, whatever). There's no box price for CN.
china today is apr.16, they just started to collect money now. my friends told me the price is reasonable for her to play.
i was so impressed by the game, and it just kept getting better as i got higher level. i just hit lvl 19 and was able to go to the next area and could have played all night, but realized its just beta so i better chill. WAR felt like the exact same thing from lvl1 -29(until i quit), AoC was good but a lot of stuff that sucked such as the customization and at one point when everyone quit the game lol. But AION is by far better than anything ive played yet, the hardest part is the wait for NA release
The more you play, the higher you lvl the more fun it get's. This game just kick's ass.
