What game do you play now and SWG fan films

SWG Vet here.

I could go into my history and stuff – short of it is I started playing SWG just after it released and canceled my subscription a few months after the NGE was released – tried it a few more times between then and now (only when I received an email from SOE saying they reactivated my account to try and get me to come back) only to be met with disappointment.

Between then and now I’ve been playing WoW but I’ve always missed the ‘complexity’ of SWG and resented the fact that WoW was more focused around spending hours killing stuff, getting ‘gear upgrades’ then spending even more hours killing new stuff to get new loot.

I’m curious what game(s) the SWG vets out there have found that keeps them entertained?

Some of the things I’m looking for:

• Good character customization from the way the toon looks to skills and such

• Good crafting system (I realize it will be hard to find a game that has a crafting system anywhere near the system that was in SWG but something close would be nice)

• Player housing (I was a mayor of a city in SWG and I loved setting up the city, decorating my house(s), guild halls, etc…)

• Decent PVP - I loved PVP in SWG, even when it was a Bounty Hunter coming after me to interrupt what I was doing

• A game that’s actually a challenge (WoW was challenging to a degree, but it seems to me like they are making it ‘too easy’ after Wrath)

I realize Star Wars :Old Republic is in the works, and I’ll definitely be in line to give it a go once it goes live but I’d like to find something to hold me over until then.

Another question I have:

I loved the ‘SWG Fan Movies’. There was one movie I had – I believe it was released just after the NGE was announced, or maybe just after it came out.

Unfortunately I can’t remember the exact premise of the video, but it was the history of someone playing, showing several fights (PVP and PVE), the most memorable part of the movie was the ending – which  showed a fight (I think) based in SWG and the character(s) getting killed, when they ‘woke’ up they were in WoW. I’ve searched high and low (apparently not high or low enough) for this film so I was wondering if anyone remembers this video and maybe where I can find it or even the name of the film.

Thanks for your time.

Played some AOC, reached level 57 and learned the games only half done like SWG was. So many games are getting rushed to market. Not just mmo's, tried out Empire Total War, and the AI is so stupid its not even worth playing at the moment..

Also spent some time in EQ2, but Im so tired of the everquesting, just like AOC the run to point A kill 20 beastys, run back get reward is pretty boring. So Im currently playing EVE, its a open sandbox, only draw back is your a ship, no ground game. Plus the long training time, dont think Ill stick it out in EVE because of its drawbacks.

So Im still stuck looking around for a game. Nothing out thier is appealing to me at the moment. SWTOR isnt a mmo, its a over glorified single player game. LEC and Bioware are just trying to cash in on the monthly subs and micro transactions. I feel sorry for the fanboys; its going to be a long time until thier is a really good SW mmo.

I really am starting to think there will not be a mmo for me for a long time, good luck with dealing with companys that rush out junk hoping it will be the next WOW.

Man I miss old SWG, It had flaws, but as a person who was very un-cynical about little things. I had a blast, community was good, you could chill in cantina on coro with litteraly hundreds of people doing music/getting buffs and talking. Buff lines for docs, hanging out with a few friends in palyer cities and getting stuff done. You actually got stuff done in that game damn... Then when you least expect it the new couple of outposts you set up will get raided by enemies and you will see yourself defending it in a huge raid.

After that you'd counter attack by taking it to the enemies city. Back then when we only had "Creature mounts" It took longer, but it was a jounrey, then a massacre. If we started losing trrops, we always had one of those HUGE tech tends a few hundred meters off with a doc ready to heal us up. Good times... No game will fill the gap of SWG completely. SWG "HAD IT" As far as sandboxness. You didn't even think about the fact that it was a sandbox, "You just played it and it came together".

Sadly the closest I can see is not something you will probably like. It's called mabinogi, and it's a anime themed MMO. But it has alot of featues.

"You can compose your own song, You want to play the titanic song? Then compose it, or get it off a site and you can play it"

"I Believe it has a pretty complex crafting system

I don't know all the details and I've only played it in english beta. But from what I hear, it has ALOT of choices. Tons. Yeah and it's F2P, Probably not your favorite type of mmo. But from what I know, this comes to the closest to the freedom and community aspect of SWG. Except for the fact that the age demographic is probably a bit younger.

I am mostly "playing" Second Life (superior crafting, housing and character customization) and first person shooters (Left for Dead L4D is great co-operation with friends). Only MMORPG that I am playing is EvE-online - thought I will unsubscribe it next month and wait until they release ambulation (player characters and walking in stations) to it.

Been playing EQ2 but I am getting a bit tired of it for now so taking the semi annual break from it again.  In anticipation of The Old Republic and on a whim I started messing around with Knights of the Old Republic II which has become a little addictive.

AoC just felt like an overglorified slasher flick to me.  Meatbags would fly at me and I was slash and slash and blood went everywhere.  I didn't even see the faces of my enemies.
