Opinion after the new trial

Well after i played the new trial island to the limit (10 adventurer/10 crafter/10 diplomat) I really feel like this game is worth sunscribing to now.
When i first tried the game there was too many things missing, too many glitches and bugs. Now everything has been added and i have yet to find any bugs or glitches.

I am resubbing and i encourage all of you to play the trial and see for yourself.

does it run like wow? 30-40 fps on a two year old machine? IF not then me and my band of cronies (11 million mmorpg subscribers) will not likely give it a try.

Thank you for not polluting other games and thanks to the 7million gold sellers that goes with it.

The trial got me to subscribe as well. Its amazing how well they fixed this game up, it is by far the best "underground"(as in, not hugely popular) MMO in the biz. Its a damn good game, and it has alot of great features, I really think it deserves more attention.

WOW is like a kids toy compared to vanguard for me now.

Why would there be any need of 11 million subscribers.

Play the game you want instead :S

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Without your exact specs, it's hard to say.  My rig is a little over two years old and I run Vanguard in 2560x1600 resolution and get 60 fps in open areas, 40 fps in enclosed areas and 20 fps in big nasty raid fights.

I would suspect you'd get good performance.   A dual-core processor is a huge difference over single core.  Anything series 8 or newer on the Nvidia side will do fine.

Am trying the game out now.   Not sure if I will continue...but it looks like a good solid game (although maybe not my cup of tea).  I cannot access the Vanguard forums to ask questions even though I am logged in (maybe because I am on trial).  I only somewhat understand the Parley game although I usually manage to win them (seems overly complicated).   Does not seem to be much solo content on the island and grouping appears to be a must for this game (which is ok at times).

I had the opposite experience after playing the trial. I found the game play boring, uninspired and repetetive. Also, just my opinion, but I found the graphics ugly and dated. I guess not my cup of tea but glad I atleast gave it a try.

Another thing is the really poor instructions/help.  The parley game and crafting are complicated and the instructions are poor.  I guess I would have to say it's a game killer for me.

I may resub eventually.  I liked the necro class.  Crafting is fun.  Diplomacy is fun.

Before I quit I created a lowbie alt to run around the trial island and force newbies to bust a move using slappys whistle.  Thats always good for a laugh   :)

Edit:  I forgot sony is whoring vanguard with rmt like eq & eq2 so I'll likely stay away from it.

The trial is good then you leave the island and it's big and empty.

This isn't a signature, you just think it is.

Without specs, it's hard to tell.  My rig is over two years old and I run in 2560x1600 resolution with some, but not all, graphics cranked to max.  I get 70 fps in the open, 30-40 in crowded areas and 15-20 in big nasty raids.

Performance on IoD is a little laggy because there are so many people there.  Over 100 during primetimes.  If you can get good performance on IoD you'll be find for the rest of Telon.

You should have access to the Newbie Yard to ask questions as a trial member.

Don't worry about how complicated the game is, if you are willing to learn and take your time you'll enjoy the learning process.  It is a step learning curve and even when you think you understand the basics, you'll discover some pretty intricate mechanics underlying adventuring, crafting and diplomacy.

I've played for two years and never got into crafting.  But after taking an alt through IoD and doing quests in all three spheres I got myself hooked on crafting too.  (already a level 50 diplo).

    Yeah, yeah, I'm quoting myself...

Just wanted to say I was a bit premature with the above post.  Decided to roll a new character and give the game another go. Make a long (and boring) story short, got hooked on the game, subed for 1 month and having fun. Did I call the graphics ugly? Ok, so the character models are on the ugly side but the world (once I adjusted my graphic settings) are just WOW. Well, found a new game to keep my attention until MO/Earthrise/Fallen Earth come out.

Pity about how Vanguard ended up. It could have been a great game...

I blame the extremely limited hair selection, but apart from that it is a decent game planning on trying the trial soon.

Also diplomacy is not hard, it is infact extremely simple!

Kakasaki, that's awesome you gave the game more of a chance. I give you a lot of credit. Most people would try a game for maybe 10 minutes a make apost like your first one and leave it at that. You gave the game a fair shake!

As for a few of the others here saying that it's too hard, the crafting is too hard, the diplomacy is too hard, and not enough instructions. Well, I came from the early days of MMO's, and not everything was just handed to you to make things easier on you. Matter of fact back when I played MMO's, there wasn't a quest log to track your quest for you. You had to have a notebook and a pencil to write down the instructions an NPC gave you so you knew what you had to do. Now, I play Vanguard, and I know they explained how to craft and how to do diplomacy....it's just a lot of text to read and chances are you people complaining about these two things probably skipped right on by all the instructional text. How easy do you guys want a game to be? Do you want the game to automatically make the items for you just by your voice command? Do you expect to automatically know how to play a new MMO sphere like diplomacy? If this game is too hard for you to figure out go play Hello Kitty Online or Toontown Online.

You know the last line is something the game doesn't need. Last thing we want is for people leaving for other games LOL. This is the only additude I hate about the VG community, everything think this game is higher difficulty than other games. I beg to differ. Its just as difficult as any other MMO there is out there. Meaning its only difficult if you make it difficult. Only thing that makes VG "hard" is the eye-bleeding faction grinds thats lurking around every corner. And most content that is difficult because it was changed 10+ times by the devs so people didn't steamroll it.

You know Xeonsoldier your right. I shouldn't tell anybody to go try different games regardless of the population of the game I'm playing. I guess I was really wrong to say that after complimenting another player about giving the game a second try and liking it. So I guess I should change my  statement  in my last reply to encouragement to keep trying the game, and don't give up.

It was just frustrating to me that people have become accustomed to not reading the quest text, and it's not their fault. It's the game developers fault for turning quest into "go kill 10 "X" and come back for reward." That's what makes Vanguard only slightly harder than other MMO's, is that some quest require more than just go kill something, but if you read the quest, it's fairly simple really. Same still goes for crafting and diplomacy. So the ones that said it's too hard, I'm sorry, don't go to another game. Just try Vanguard again. This time read the text in the quest, crafting, and diplomacy instructions. If you still are lost on what to do, ask in the zone-wide chat. I've had to do it and normally get the answer I'm needing.

I don't really find the game more difficult then your average MMO. Now the crafting system did take me a while to figure out (like how the heck to set up my skills) but once I did, I find it to be the most enjoyable part of the game. Now why the hell can't other games have such an enjoyable and complex crafting system?

I've played for over 2 years, and just now got into crafting.  I never had the patience to figure it out before, but I took an alt through IoD and found that those quests were a great introduction to crafting.  Now I'm trying to get my main to a 50/50/50 and really enjoying it.  Just finished the Banishers line.

The difficulty in adventuring comes into play when one begins to figure out their character and what all the attributes, stats, abilities, gear bonuses etc. etc. etc. mean.  For many people, it takes a lot of insight and practice to play a various race/class combos to their peak potential.  And in the end, there are some that will just never be able to complete certain events, or quests or be a key class in difficult raid fights because they are just unable to play their toon to the max.

So the difficulty isn't really measured by the death penalty or experience curve, I think it's measured by the complexity of the game and the effort to figure it all out.  For example, in order to get a guild tank through a certain quest fight, someone ultimately had to log on his toon for him and do the fight.  That's why a good friend of mine and his wife left VG, just didn't want to spend the time figuring everything out.

Ya actually it does. Dont know if you have tryed WoTLK out.but its not as easy to run as it use to be. Really who cares how good wow runs when most times you play it theres a 2 second delay on every thing you do, due to server lag.
