Client crashes after clicking 'Start'

in The Chronicles of Spellborn

 The game is completely patched but as soon as I click 'Start' the typical windows vista error pops up "sb_client.exe has stopped working."

GameGuard doesn't even start. I've tried using "Run as Administrator" and even set the compatibility to Windows XP SP2 but it still won't work.

Antivirus is turned off and so is the firewall. So has anyone had (and solved) this problem?

 

I'm running Windows Vista 32bit with 4GB of RAM and a nVidia 8800GT SSC.

    I initially had this issue myself. MY solution (works for most, not for everyone) was to go to

    C:Program FilesThe Chronicles of Spellborndatavideo

    and rename the file in there to 1.bik

    This has worked for many people...but yet not for a few. There are various other work-arounds at

    phpbb.acclaim.com/spellborn/viewforum.php

     I tried renaming the .bik file to 1.bik and it still crashes. I've tried checking all the files too. AVG is turned off, so is my Firewall and SpyBot is turned off too.

    One thread in that forum said to check the sb_client.ini file but I can't find it anywhere, only a Default.ini in the '/etc/client' folder.

    Yeah, sb_client.ini should be in C:Program FilesThe Chronicles of Spellbornetcclient , however it is entirely possible that if you can't even start the client, that no sb_client.ini has been created, since I think it's done on first run as a modified default.ini.

    Sounds like a gameguard issue tbh....GG is about as worthless as an asshole on an elbow. It's easy circumvented by those who want to hack, and buggers legitimate customers.

     Is there any way for me to manually download GameGuard? I really want to try this game as every single other MMO I've played thus far I have gotten bored with because it wasn't what I wanted. And this one seems to be twitch based/skill based combat, so I'm eager to try it out IF I can ever get it to work.
