Was runescape originally flash based back in the day? Or was it Java? I think it's Java now, right? It must be like 8-10 years ago that I played that. It was ok.... I found a way to do one of the quests over and over by making new characters and made a fortune. I had all the best stuff at a ridiculously low level, and it pissed off the higher level guys because the level difference meant that they couldn't kill me to steal it, so they were stuck wearing stuff that wasn't as good. Hooray!
Any chance of being able to upload swf files that are custom personal item or player models so that other people can see them as well? That would be hot Or just providing the url to an swf that is hosted somewhere else maybe, instead of uploading them and doing not nice things to your memory space?

The phone version will first be released on the iTunes app store for iPhones, and it will be free!
Oh, you guys are making the mobile version as a mobile app? I was hoping it would be something that was still browser based, but would recognize that it's being viewed on a mobile device and redirect the user to the mobile version of the game. Looks like I won't be able to play it on my phone. Blackberry strikes again. Stupid phone.
Not all browser-based online RPGs are garbage. Estiah and Cthulhu Nation are very nicely done and have a certain charm to them. Urban Dead is to my mind the best game in the world right now, and its semi-imitators Shartak & Nexus War are also pretty sophisticated, with lots to do and complex interaction between the players. And MMORPG.com has said time and time again that they will not list or cover these games. So what exactly is going on here?
We made the decision to list browser games (which is becoming a fuzzy term with new Flash versions that permit a true client/server interaction in your browser like Java) and text based games last year with a couple exceptions:
- They are not going to be on our main "Game List" for MMORPG games. The only way to see browser games is to select the specific list "Browser Games"
- They get our lowest priority for reviews and other coverage - meaning you probably will not see interviews with devs, reviews, etc for these games.
We always featured Runescape because it was Java based and met our definition of a true MMORPG which was a) had a real live client/server connection b) allowed hundreds of people to interact in the game world, not just a chat lobby, c) the world was persistent meaning game worlds don't reset (ala Battlefield 1942) and d) featured some kind of RPG elements like skill trees, levels, etc
Disciple would actually have been featured in our main game list as a full MMORPG if it met item B above - since Flash technology now allows all of those items above to be possible within a web browser window (Java has allowed this for many years already, it just was not as easily accessible as Flash).

Will the game be available for phones that use Windows mobile?
Our plan is to first release and iPhone application, then shortly after we will release a universal browser version. A lot of the timing depends on how long it will take Apple to approve the app. The biggest challenge is meeting all the human interface guidlines, which are really great guidelines to follow from a usability perspective. Our game has a ton of little buttons and a lot of information on each screen. Finding an elegant way to show this information on a small mobile screen is what we are doing right now.
