Before I buy the game...

I have a simple question which isn't exactly clear to me on both Station and Direct2Drive.

If I buy the game digitally, from either vendor, do I get the initial 30 days free time?  Direct2Drive states:

*30 DAY GAME SUBSCRIPTION INCLUDED FOR NEW EVERQUEST II ACCOUNTS (offer excludes existing EverQuest II accounts and Station Access™ Accounts) – ADDITIONAL RECURRING SUBSCRIPTION FEES APPLY THEREAFTER. A VALID CREDIT CARD OR SOE GAME CARD REQUIRED.

I have a 6 year old station account on which I used to play PlanetSide.  I DID formerly try EQ2 in March 2006 on that account.  Clearly, for various reasons, I want to use this account.  I do NOT currently have any subscriptions to SOE games (no Station Access™ subscription).  So, the simple question is: will I get the free 30 days when I purchase the game?  Surely D2D will give me a key to activate on my account, which I would *assume* would give me the 30 days.  I also *assume* that buying through Station just magically enables the game through their launcher, but with the 30 days, or an added $15 for the month.  Frankly, I'd rather just go straight through Station, if only I knew the result.

Anyone know?

P.S.  Station doesn't state whether or not the game includes the 30 days, and after choosing to purchase it goes straight to the subscription plan after choosing the TSO: All-in-One package.

To avoid a new thread, I'll also ask a bit of advice here.

I've tried Brigand, Necromancer, Wizard, and Warlock.  They were each just "ok" but I decided to make a Froglok Paladin for shits n' giggles earlier.  Pretty much sealed the deal - was more fun than the others for me, and just felt like a fit.  That said, I chose the frog just to see how it was in-game, not even considering racial advantages.  Since then, after checking out the races on the EQ2 wiki, I've narrowed it to Barbarian, Human, Dwarf, or Froglok.  I realise at the end of the day it doesn't mean everything, but does anyone have any thoughts or advice?

Oh, and I'll be rolling on Antonia Bayle server.  After some rather in-depth reading on PVP, I decided it wasn't for me, for now, so it will be a PVE character.

Shiymmas, I am pretty sure regardless of how you purchase the game, if you use it on the existing account you will not get the free 30 days. The up side of the old account is that your old characters and stuff will still be there. If you had a house it will be there to and all you will need to do is pay current rent to access it not any back rent.

As far a racial choice. In my experience it does not matter that much so play what you think you will have fun with. I made a Ratonga bruiser because I thought it would be funny to be a tiny fist fighting ass kicker and it is! I would possibly rethink the Antonia Bayle server unless you have friends there. I play all my toons on Mistmoore now after leaving Antonia Bayles. The server does have the highest population but you also pay a performance price for this. Mistmoore is a populated fun server and I am glad I have all my toons there. I play with an awesome guild Slege the best group of players I have ever met in any mmo I have ever played.

Don't over think EQ2 play what you want and enjoy the ride. EQ2 is a fantastic deep game. Don't rush to level cap slow down and enjoy. EQ2 has a lot to offer but so many miss it all by playing the leveling game. EQ2 is so much more then the level cap.

Excludes: I think that means NO!

However, You will still get the free time if you simply create another station account!

The 30 days is only for new accounts.

If you don't care about your old characters, simply create a new station account and you will get the free 30 days.  If you add the game to you old station account it will just upgrade it with the expansions.

stick with your old acct - you wont get the 30 free days but you will be eligible for some Vet rewards

also - before you buy -- check if your acct already has Kunark

last summer,  SOE gave many old accts all-in-one Kunark credit,  including old trials

I agree with Eccoton about the speed of your leveling. There is a lot of content to go through, and generally it's worth doing. I've just reactivated my very first character which I started in 2005. He's a 69 Fury, but only has 65 AAs. I'm now going though previous content with him till I can get his AAs up high enough to start doing the Kunark questlines. As for servers, I don't mind Antonia Bayle it's an all right server and I've never really experienced any performance issues except voice chat in Lavastorm when everybody and their dog was in there.

Shiymmas, when you played before, did you just try the trial?  Or did actually subscribe?

If you're playing a Froglok paladin, are you playing a trial now?  On the same or different Station account?

As far as racial stats go, they're close to worthless.  They'll help you in the first 10, maybe 20, levels - after that there is very little difference, and by endgame there is no difference at all.
