so ive played many MMO's now and only ONE has really grabbed me and thats DAoC.

the rvr with different factions was great and i love the race/class selections

WoW just didnt have the large scale pvp im lookin for

Warhammer doesnt really have enough class/race choices for me

FFXI pvp (or lack there-of) was fun pve wise but gets old

so anyone know of any good large scale preferably faction based pvp with great character customization?

    Well technically not considered an MMORPG, by some sectors of the gaming community. I would recommend having a look at Guild Wars, it requires no subscription and it contains a thriving PvP section.

    I would recommend City of Heroes/City of Villains if you like great character customization. There are no set "races" but the customization is good enough that you can choose yourself and create your character accordingly. It's definitely a breath of fresh air. It has a more modern setting and you have much more freedom to run around choosing your own priorities.

    The only thing set in stone is that if you choose to play an Hero expect to spend your time fighting Villains, and if you choose to be a Villain expect to spend most of your time beating up on Heroes. Whether in PvP, Pve, or the Arena.

    They are split up into 5 archetypes - Each with it's own Primary and Secondary powers - You also get to choose the Origin of your powers, which will effect your enhancement types later on (i.e. Natural, Science, Magic, Technology, Mutation). There are also a slew of other powers that become available to everyone at level 4 in the Power pool (i.e. Flying, Super Speed, Super Jump, Teleportation, Concealment, and a few others).

    Heroes (Tank/Scrapper/Controller/Defender/Blaster)[Once lvl 50 you can create a Peacebringer or Warshade]

    41 Total Primary Powers for Heroes

    40 Total Secondary Powers for Heroes

    Villains (Brute/Stalker/Dominator/Mastermind/Corruptor)[Once lvl 50 you can create an Arachnos Soldier or Arachnos Widow]

    42 Total Primary Powers for Villains

    44 Total Secondary Powers for Villains

     

    The visual character customization is extensive and you will never see two players that look the same (unless done purposely). If you are looking for character customization, no other games even comes close to CoH/CoV, not even remotely.
