There were in fact over 30 professions , not simply "over 20" as you stated. (I've played SWG since 2003, by the way)

There are currently 13 professions (4 crafting professions). In a couple weeks there will be 2 more added (Beast Master & Droid Commander) plus another melee class in discussion (a mix of Teras Kasi and Swordsman). That will make it a total of 16 classes in the current state of SWG. Of course, more are sure to follow.

    "ZOMG they gave us a 10th class!!1!!111!!!"

Really man, who talks like that?

First of all, there is one crafting profession, only especializations. 4 specializations of making useless crap that 99% of which are worse than drops.

Second of all... how does it feel to alpha test a game? They talk of a new class, yet the game is still fundimentally broken. The content is horribly lacking and the bugs still run rampant.

There's blind optimism, and then there's you.

Not professions, there are 12 or 13 mandatory templates. Trader is not really specializations, they just have some elements in common. The respeccing process treats them as separate classes. They could have been shown as individual pictures on the chooser screen, but SOE was KISSing the process (Keeping It Simple for the Stupids - "4 x 3 is too hard!"). Also, a whole row of its own would give way too much prominence to a class-group that they were trying hard to kill, whatever their protestations to the contrary.

You can call these things classes, but I think they really are just enforced templates, with the old standard professions still there below the surface. The relation is most obvious with the "Trader" group. It would be interesting to see just how Medic is built, because I am pretty certain that it does not include the old Novice Medic skill box. I base this conclusion on the fact that a new-Medic can't craft the Stim A+ quest schematic from Bestine Med Center (requires Novice Medic).

There's the number of "professions" that were available and then there were the number of combinations available...and as long as the current system only allows a person to play one profession (don't care what little point system you have to "tweak" the profession), the numbers can not be compared...it's not comparing apples to oranges but comparing individual fruits to a self-made/self-selected fruit salad (or smoothie...yum). I don't care if they can say "wow, look, we have a 100 fruits now and you only had 30" unless I like something out of that 100 fruits and I can mix a little of this fruit with a little of that and if I can only have one fruit then what difference does it matter how many fruits they have?

And to answer the question of "really man, who talks like that?"  Seems to be an entire "language" used by a group of youngsters or people trying to prove they fit in with youngsters.  Believe me, when I first started SWG, I didn't know what "leet" was either.  Assumed it must be something bad as the first reference I saw to it was saying it was not allowed in guild chat...but then I asked.  I also had to ask what was with the "p" in "pwned."  Also seems that since SOE appears to want a "target audience" of a generation of spoon fed kiddies, people assume that SWG is now filled with leet-speak.

I do know that the term "1337" (or whatever) meaning "leet" or "elite" was first used in the early to mid 1980's by computer hackers.

It's nothing new (even if it is annoying as hell).

Call us veterans when they get rid of the classes and the cheap wow rip off specializations.  When Blix brings back a game not entirely based on levels.  You know that game you orginally purchased.  It was not level or class based.  It was skill based and a sandbox.  You know the game I paid 70 bucks for the collectors edition to get sunglasses.  The game I subbed to for 2 years.  You remember it.  Please let us know when that happens.

Telling us that soe's big plans is to half ass coded 2 great professions that we use to enjoy into 1 mixed martial artist class is just plain dissappointing and sad.  Frankly we at the Cabal find it mockable.  Droid commander is really funny to.  Let me guess you can control 3 droids and call them from your datapad.  They going to reuse the NPC code for that one and reskin the soliders?

Listen I don't recall much from star wars but droids where proven to be inferior to clones.  Maybe Necrosis brother Tedcrosis can spawn with the Battledroids and pwn newbs.  Of course I dont know much because I apparently missed the piece of star wars lore that said suddenly 5000 jedi reappeared and fought it out between episode IV and V.  Must have missed that novel.

Day 2 of swg was better then the NGE version.  I had to walk every where and 90% of it was busted and it still was superior to this NGE game they produced.

SWG is a terrible game right now.  No amount of fixes to the NGE version are going to fix it because no one wants to play that style of game with its terrible class system.  I basically throw up in my mouth logging into that game because its so bad.

It might be the worst MMO I have ever played with the NGE on it.  Its slow, boring, pointless, its quests are lame, its combat is lame, its professions are lame and its empty.

Defend it all you want.  Your a minority.  More of US liked the previous version then currently play your version.  We are right you are wrong.  Na na na na.

    The cabal says: "Pre-CU ftw!"

other than that how is LOTR?  I am thinking of getting it.  Can you slaughter hobbits?

Blixtev being a saviour, is like the plumber that just put a toilet in your livingroom cuz your 3 year old wanted to potty while watching TV would become your saviour... Or is it villain?

Leading the way with Crafting Revamps and upcoming expansions, Blix seems to be taking an aggressive attitude toward making SWG worth playing again.

Lol so after more than 3 years of b.s. people get almost half of the professions they used to have.  I think a more appropriate analogy would be that after Smed dropped the NGE bomb on the house that was SWG, Blix has successfully replaced some of the carpet in the basement, but it still smells like smoke.

Lol I just noticed that two years have past since you started this thread.  Why did you bring it back to life now??

A retrospective look at the legacy of Blix's failures? Sometimes, certain threads need a second look from far into the future. Helps put things in perspective and remind us of the lies at the time that came to light later.

Kind of makes former SWG players veritable Terminator Model 101s - sent to the past to save the future of other gamers.
