The 14 day free trial thing ought to get fixed, it shows up as a 7 day trial and has too many mentions of installing alien invasion expansion, when it's really shadowlands....but anyway....
After playing other mmorpgs, this one is on the BOTTOM of the list as far as the following goes:
Game play
Graphics (especially the ugly ass character models. YUCK!)
The interface stinks completely.
I didn't even get to the first monster to kill before I decided this game was junk. There is too much good stuff coming out to put up with this ancient technology. They REALLY need to update their engine. This one is just PUTRID. Not worth even the FREE trial.
Boycott NCSoft products!

Well i don't like AO eather but i sure as hell didn't judge if after i started my first ever char.
U should give the game a chanse before u jump to conclusions man. Dont' judge a book by it's cover as they usually say! Everybody knows that game play and the expiriance is alot more important than the graphics. And not the other way around. I donno if u would love a game with awesome graphics and cool animations but 0 game play. I'm not here to fast judge u by the stupid coment u just said above. But don't u think u shoudl keep your mouth shut unless u know what u're talking about? Giving bad publicity without even knowing what the hell u're talking about does noone any good.
I don't like AO. I think it needs lots and lots of improvment...but i will not start a new thread just to talk bad about about a game i know nothing of like u just did. This is a very distructive way of doing things.
Its very obvious the original thread starter is a Graphics ho and only wants to play a game for that and that alone....People like this are never interested in what the game has to offer or things like depth..... I suggest you go play L2, COH, or E2 for that matter... These are games that are more known for there Graphics rather then there gameplay...
And no I am not a AO fanboi I hate this game now due to Shadowlands, but even this game deserves better then what you said about it.

Partially a graphics ho I suppose, since I consider it a HUGE part of an online mmorpg rather than an old style MUD!!! There are many things that have to be there to make a good mmo, graphics are one of them. AO was lacking more than that.
And no, I didn't want to give it a chance. I can't stomach a game put together like that. There's another game out there, its on the list to the left but I'm not positive which it is...maybe Ragnarok online, not sure. Anyway the graphics and gameplay of AO reminded me of that substandard game, even though rag was worse. If the visual experience doesn't lent itself to the mmo, I just can't play it.
I have played L2. I played for about 4 months before dumping that one. Stunning graphics, extremely lacking game play. I have the right to expect more for my money.
Anarchy Online SUCKS and I would never reccommend that anyone bother with it EVER.

One of the reasons this forum exists is because people want to see what a game is like before they buy, since there are so few free trials out there, so STFU yourself. I have a right to my opinion, and it is as stated. I dislike the entire AO experience from the download to logging back off and cancelling the account.
An outdated piece of junk 3d engine such as this is not a serious contender these days for mmorpgs. If they fix the engine, or get a new one they MAY have a chance at having a decent game, otherwise.....
Don't waste your time with AO. MU Online has a better gameplay experience, and that game blows graphically too!
Perhaps YOU need to keep YOUR mouth shut until you experience a REAL mmorpg that has a decent dev team and tools to work with. When that happens, come on back and tell me I'm wrong.

So what you are trying to tell us, is that you "played" this game for like 5 minutes and that you have based your opinion on that? Right ok...
Yea there are few trails around, but AO does have one! So we dont need your 5-minute-experience-with-AO-comment. So STFU yourself.
And you think that Ragnarok online looks like Anarchy Online, well maybe the second part of the name is the same but for the rest its completly different. AO isnt even point and click.

OK! lemme give u a quick review of MU Online in a way u propably like to read about others opinions:

It's a very well kept secret but when you first install AO the graphics are set to low by default.
You can turn them up for greater detail. Try it. You might like it. It doesn't take a degree in rocket science either, just hit F10 and play around.
HINT: Turn those graphics up before whining.
One of these days I'm going to get one of the latest MMO's with supposedly the best graphics and turn the settings down as low as possible. Then I'll take a screen shot and whine about how poor the graphics are.
Also AO is getting a major graphics update in the next month. It should be pretty cool. I'm really impressed with Funcom and all the work they put into AO. It's not a perfect game but it is definitely one of the best out there.

If you can sit there and tell us that L2 is better than Ao you are a total moron and idiot.Ao is not for dumb gamers though you have to take the time to actually LEARN the game nothing is handed to you and your not walked along while the tutorial holds your hand like alot of the new mmorpgs.
Sadly the above pictures don't actually have much relevance to AO as it is , because they are for a proposed textures update . The engine itself is badly outdated and anyone who has tried to conduct any form of high level pvp will know its limitations .
The game itself is rather quiet on rk2 right now and Im glad I hit 220 before stacking was nerfed as it seems to be a more boring journey than ever .
*edit* and as for AO not being for "dumb gamers" , I guess that you play and disprove your own theory . Everyone is entitled to an opinion , even you . AO is easy , its pvp is awfull ( mmm whompawars and pocketdocs ) and the high level game is nonexistant . I feel my time was wasted grinding out 2 220 toons before I decided to stop though I know people working on thier 4th right now .

Hmm. Let's see about that. There's 30 pictures there. Two of them show what the graphic update will be like, that hasn't happend yet so no you can't get those two ingame as of today. Another two are of a new Alien area that hasn't opened yet either but will be in an upcoming patch. 11 of the pictures are of Alien Invasion. I've seen that stuff ingame, I could get a screenie like that even without having the expansion if I just hung around a guild city. Even with my Radeon 8500 I could get a screen shot as good if not better. The remaining 15 pics are of shadowlands and the original AO and they've been around for years.
Keltik, sorry buddy, you're wrong. 4 of the pics you couldn't get screenies of. 4 out of 30 is not a majority. In fact it's less than 14%. What's your point anyway. You got something against AO? Even a monkey could see AO has good graphics if they just try it.
Ok , have you tried a pande raid with your graphics settings maxed ?
How about mass pvp with the same ?
Maybe a busy area ?
The screenies given are not what the majority of the playerbase will experience for much of thier playing time , as ( in my opinion only ) the slightest strain on the graphics engine brings ao to a juddering halt .
I think my computers probably not the best ( 9800 pro card , 3.2g speed 2 g ram ) and I only play online games on a 1mb line but I shouldn't be coming to a standstill entering heavilly populated areas in AO , I don't in SWG , EQ2 , WoW or EVE .
I have never seen pande look as good as its represented in those screenies , never seen shadowlands like that in any area and in fact if I was more cynical , I'd say the majority of the screenies are "enhanced" .
As a side note , I've had a good 3 year stint in AO and I'm going to WoW with the majority of my org .
I think AO used to have many strengths , graphics have never been one of those ( again , in my opinion only ) .

The settings were on medium, with a GeForce 4, 1 GIG memory, Pent 4, 1 GHZ processor. Most of my AO pics are 1 to 1 1/2 years old. There is nothing bad about current AO graphics. They are NICE enough to easily still hold up to current MMORPGs enough to still make AO fun to play. And for graphics to not be an issue.
Also since MMORPGs have an intended shelf life of 5 years, graphics mean nothing since no matter what they will become outdated.
Gameplay > Graphics.
