Seems like EA's considering another direction for their Need for Speed series and it should involve an MMO racing title. Here's the news from Gamespot :

Yes I agree, atleast from the article it is now clear to everybody
Hot tubs for sale
they need to do this. the NFS franchise is getting old.
Its been 5 years that its old.
Drift City is the closest a racing game got to an MMO.
Its very fun game with rpg elements, story quests, diversity on pve content, economy/action house, crew competition for territory wielding proffit, lots of things to see/unlock/test, ridiculous ammount of customization, equipment with random bonuses for the diablo fat leet factor...
Ah, and before someone else mentions it... Test Driving Unlimited failed.
And every other multiplayer racing online game isnt massive enough in terms of number of players, space scale, time and effort spent to receive the Massive tag, neither have enough elements to be worthy of receiving an RPG tag as well.
Need For Speed has changed so much since it first came out. The best had to be the first need for speed, I gave up after need for speed road challenge/high skates. That was when it went into the street racing and stuff! But yeah it would be interesting to see the new angle on a game that has change so much!
if this happened it would probably be one of the rare times i'd pick up a racing game.
