I just finished the Spellborn webinar and they announced the official release for tomorrow and all current players will get a 2 week free premium subscription. Also all new players that sign up between 4/23 and 5/7 will get a free 2 week premium subscription. I don’t think anyone has word of this yet because they said in the webinar this is the first announcement they have made to the public. Thought I’d share since this is pretty cool…

Any word on when they will enable credit card subscriptions? The last I heard it was suppose to happen two weeks ago.
Edit: OK, just read a few post down that is is now active.
Wooot! nice!!! Rock on Spellborn!!
wow... sweet deal
As if the free box/ free trial wasnt enough... awesome launch promotion.
Well done guys, can't wait till I read some of the live reviews
counting down the hours
so wait what about us currently paying do we get an extra 2 weeks or just the shaft haha?
According to what they said all current players will also get 2 weeks free even if you have a subscription already.
It really is an awesome launch strategy....in two weeks, you can explore a good amount of the game, and really get a feel for it.
IMO, more companies should do something like this.
That's excellent I just payed for my 2nd month sub, so that means that i get 1month and a half of gameplay YOOT!!
That would be a nice, but most other games releasing out of the gate don't have to do it so they'd rather not give the cow away for free if you catch my drift.
It's getting to the point after so many PvP games disappointing and failing over the last 12 months, the genre all but has to give away some kind of sample before release. I think it's a great idea for Spellborn to try and snag people up before more mainstream ones beat them out and before the summer hits. But overall, not a good model for most MMOs because it doesn't inspire confidence in your product.
Which amazes me why a game like Darkfall never did that. You'd think they'd be the first in line based on their projected sales so low compared to the industry.
But agree, VERY good move for Spellborn. Grats players~
"TO MICHAEL!"
odd...since the OPPOSITE was said by most players when AoC didn't offer a true open beta, nor a proper trial...most players seem to believe that a good puplic trial DOES demonstrate confidence, since you obviously have nothing to hide if you're laying it all out on teh line.

I remember sometime back then, DF promised everyone can try the game free, before buying. They eat their own words, like they eat the features they promised.

lol so true Whar
The people that follow these games bewilder me tbh... games companies are criticised for offering NO free trial and being too expensive, and when they give away FREE client/ trials/ promotions (TRUELY FREE that is, not so called 'free to play' hiding a hideous item shop) they get criticised as well.
Damned if they do, damned if they don't.... I would hate to be a MMORPG dev. It's a thankless task.
Hopefully theyll actually ADVERTISE all of this rather than doing the usual hidden methods they usually employ.

It's official checkout the website http://spellborn.acclaim.com
I'm downloading it now, I'll definately be taking advantage of this.
I haven't followed the game at all really, but there isn't jack shit for MMOs right now, and since I haven't played one in ages and have the itch to do so, TCoS might just be that scratch.
3,071mb download on a streamed P2P program they have on their site.
The download has maxed out my connection, so the speeds are great. (350kbps d/l on a 3.5 connection)
hmmm I downloaded the game...and set up a Acclaim account. But I don't see any way of actually playing the game without buying a subscription. So what am I missing? Do I need to buy a subscription to get 2 weeks free? I tried to log in using my Acclaim account but it just says wrong user name or password.
**edit* NM...I been trying since yesterday to log in,I guess the game was just down or whatever. I tried a hour ago, couldn't get in. Tried 10 minutes ago and got in fine.
This is a fantastic offer, and it's coming at just the right time for me. Well done Acclaim
