Been trying to fix my headset this evening since it all of the sudden died on me. It's now officiall dea dso need to buy a new one, any recomandations on what headset I should look at? Using it mostly for gaming, so Mic is essential and it has to have good sound.
Playing: Battlefield - Bad company (Xbox360) Arma2, DFO (PC)
On my radar: TSW, MO
MMO's played: SWG (pre cu/cu), WoW, AoC, WAR, DFO, Planetside
MMO's that I have tested: Lotro, L2, Aion, Ryzom

Is there some kind of a headset or a hat that makes you like the game more? That would be awesome with AoC but I think it might be too sci-fi. If a headset like that does not exist, then I recommend Sennheiser. Always pick German and you cannot go wrong.
I would suggest the Cyborg headset found here: www.saitek.com/uk/prod/cyborg5.htm
However, one of my friends has a Creative FATAL1TY 3.5mm gold-plated Circumaural Gaming Headset and swears by it. You can find it here: www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx
Been looking at the Sennheiser PC 350 Pro, looks quite sweet a bit pricey, but hey if it's kick ass soundswise it doesn't matter
doubt there is any headset that will make me like the game more tho :P

Heh tough question.
Depends a lot on personal preference but if you dont mind traditional wired headsets I have some personal favourites. Also tried a few wireless headsets lately. I really enjoyed the freedom but all had subpar sound and/or mic.
If you are looking for an affordable lightweight design the "Koss CS 80" has a decent mic and very good sound at the price. (This one IS a bargain).
If you want something even better but a little more traditional the "Sennheiser PC 161" has extremely good sound for its price.
If you are willing to spend about twice as much to have (maybe) the best traditional PC headset with a microphone I think Sennheiser PC 350 is king! It looks heavy but you can wear it for hours without discomfort caused by heat or pressure. Sound quality is almost on par with regular hifi-headsets at twice the price. (Yep I have one of these as well)
As for the 5.1 and 7.1 "gaming" headsets I have heard (incl. Logitech g35) one word: Gimmicky!
We dont need casuals in our games!!! Errm... Well we DO need casuals to fund and populate our games - But the games should be all about "hardcore" because: We dont need casuals in our games!!!
(repeat ad infinitum)
Hey there.
I have 2 headsets in the home.
These: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826504004
and These: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=29322&promoid=1001
The first ones are the best I have ever owned. Difference between the two are that the first one covers the whole ear, and is more comfy + the vibration if you want it.
The second ones have been shipping with Assassins Creed for over a year now over here in N.America.
With the first if you live in the EU you can order them from places like Amazon. More on their website : http://www.edimensional.com/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=122
The only thing I will say is the mic is not the best in the world on either. But the first sounds great with AoC and it's positional sound effects.
i recommend the razer piranha headset. top notch.

I use a Sennheiser headset but to be honest there are a lot of good headsets on the market. I would pay a lot of consideration to which headset you think would be most comfortable, it doesn't matter what headset you get if it starts to get uncomfortable or hurt your ears or whatever after 30 mins then you have wasted your money.
