Face-capturing tech to be "in-game soon" for Age of Conan
Lopping off heads in Age of Conan might soon be taken very personally, as ShackNews has reported that some fancy face-importing technology is being prepared for use in-game -- you're bound to be just a tad more put out when you see your actual face rolling away on a decapitated noggin. The above picture is a somewhat terrifying example of what might be seen when walking around Funcom's Hyboria in the near future. The technology itself comes from a company called Big Stage Entertainment, and you can already get a feel for how it works at their website by registering an account and creating your own 3D "@ctor";.
For now, the @ctors can only be used with videos and pictures on the web, but Funcom is working with Big Stage to bring both real-life faces and voices to in-game avatars. The Global Gaming League is running a competition called the "Big Stage Crown Yourself King Conan Contest" to promote the whole operation. Entrants must generate AoC-related Big Stage creations, and then share them around with as many people as possible for a chance to win some game time and in-game items. ShackNews has a video demonstrating the use of the technology in its current implementation.

Wow this is a sure sign the "apple does not fall far from the tree" they are finally lucky enough to get rid of Gaute and they still seem to have a problem prioritizing.This looks like it could be a joke for AOC players I certainly hope it is but this is not much different than when they started talking about the expansion.Good luck with this game.

That's insanely awesome, lol. Watched the video where he imports his face into the cinematic. Really cool stuff. I'm interested in seeing how this works out in game.

Tarib confirmed on the eu forums it was never intended to make it ingame, but there is a competition where you can put your face on a video or something like that. not really read up on that competition at all to be honest.

Actully that is me after a hard workout. Can't you tell? I've gained a couple of pounds after this picture was taken. I found out exercise was not my thing.
By the way.. did you hear? It seems you cannot put your beautiful face on your character. So I guess you are safe from all those ugly people ganking you because you are so beautiful. Lucky you.
Obama could never have the balls of Conan or any other strong leader. He is too busy shaking hands, bowing, apologizing and kissing our enemies azzes to worry about being a strong leader and doing whats right for our people. But one thing is for sure, he sure knows how to spend money he does not have and throw some wild weekly Wednesday night cocktail parties with the taxpayers money.
