MO is going to be what so many of us waited for. No more lame LMB click fest, crappy animations, excluded features and rotten community.

In Star Vault we trust!

Uh oh ... my high hopes are with you, my friend, but even though the concept looks great and what we've seen so far seems to support that, there is always the possibility that somewhere, someone or something has or will be screwing up badly.

Besides, your fanblurt reminds me of things written by supporters of another recently 'released' game, ... kind of the group of people you are trying to burry in about every post you write, hur, hur :)

It do sounds intresting but you shouldn't call a game great that you havn't even tried.

I will keep my eyes on this game but let's not hype it up until we actually tried it.

Well I hope it is and I hope that the fans of DF and MO don't start hateing on each other  :/

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Same here. Both Darkfall and MO are games which, on paper, are made to cater for the same crowd of people; the freedom and free for all pvp crowd which has been deprived of new titles for years at a row. Understandibly, That deprivation has led some people to put all their faith in one of these new titles, making them the 'fanboys' which they are being called now, while in essence, the Darkfall fans and those who love MO, are the same group. At least for game developers and marketing analytics they are, which says enough, really.

Heh, I meant some sarcasm in my OP, but not much. So far Mo is delivering well. Very well. I hope to get a beta spot and experience it my self, plus help to make it a success.

So far though kudos to the devs and I'm stoked.

This so far looks like the Oblivion online I have dreamed of. Very exciting.

    Darkfall still has fans?

I thought they died off when it was "released".

Played and enjoyed: EQ1, DAoC, WoW

Played and disliked: Guild Wars, WAR

    Currently playing: Nothing

    Waiting for: Mortal Online

I too hope MO will be successful.

However, we must all take into consideration that they are a virgin company, developing their first MMO on a relatively small budget.

If they can pull something off that the majority of fans will enjoy, it will be a miracle. However, I think there is definitely potential there for something great.

Hope you have enough pillows, not to get hurt after falling straight down from high hopes & expectations ;)

Anyway, all core features I've read about MO year ago, and was interested in, were implemented and working in alpha stage.
For me the game was ready 4 months ago xD

I, too, hope MO comes together well. It doesn't have to be perfect, but as long as it does enough things to my liking, I'll be happy. Take that comment with a grain of salt though, as I STILL hope darkfall pulls together.

I only played two months in EVE, but that game spoiled me with the way it was presented, but the combat bored me; and as much as I hate to admit it, Entropia did a lot to shape my tastes in what I want from a game (I never payed a cent to play it and got a few months of enjoyment from it).

Are Call of Duty or Battlefield  great Sandbox games? I just think of them as FPS games.

MO doesn't sound like a great sandbox, it sounds like an FPS with lots of players.

    Sweet, tbh.

I'd jump right in as well. I'm ready to forgive an awefull lot of bugs if the main premise of the game stands erect like a .. like a .. uhm, nevermind that :P

I'm trying to make sense of your post, but I can't quite grasp your logic.

Are you saying that, because MO is in first person view, it can be compared to first person shooter games like Call of Duty? Is that really what you are saying?

    I mean, really?

Nah. The only thing the nay-sayers have to work with right now is latching onto the 1st person view and try to extrapolate a bunch of negativity based on nothing.

They would have to try hard to do worse than Darkfall.

wow... no need to cause DF hatred here, note that lmb click fests and crappy animations have literally nothing to do with the sandbox nature of ANY game, and MO, if it plans to be financially viable, will need to take on a LOT more people, and I mean it needs to multiply by like times 5, so please don't play the game for the community, who knows what it will look like at launch...

DF combat's actually good, its just that it takes a REALLY REALLY long time to kill somebody... a REALLY long time. Melee requires more skill than you think, remember you can jump over and crouch under attacks

Anyway, MO looks promising, more of a sandbox than the feature depraved DF? I wouldn't count on it, since they promised less on sandbox features than DF, imagine how much they will deliver... I myself am just waiting for a good full loot ffa skill based pvp mmo :P.

I mean both DF and MO will be great a few years after their release, like most sandbox games that don't die at the start, I don't know which will be on top but they will both be great games, assuming MO will turn out more sandbox than themepark of course.

It's one thing to promise something and it's another thing to actually deliver on those promises. The principle of the MO devs is that they don't promise things that they are not 100% sure they can deliver. That's why it might feel they have less sandbox features planned, than for example DF. In reality, they have loads of things planned, I can in all honestly say, a lot more than DF ever did, but the thing is they don't state it publicly, since they don't want to risk giving people false hope.

i have alot of expectations but also belief that not staying with the typical game ideas that this game can go a long way .

im really looking forward to this and hope that i will get a beta key .

  • andmillerandmiller Member Posts: 374

Can we just try, try, to not make such proclamations any more when we have no idea what the final product will actually be like?  I mean how many times do we have to be burned before we learn this lesson?

How about talking about how the concepts are cool or not, without proclaiming this is the next great game?  Maybe I am just too cynical at this point, but let's be realistic, the track record of recent MMO releases is just abysmal.  We should all be skeptical at least a little bit until we get some real info on games, like beta testers or game experience.......

The lack of a rotten community will only happen if it continues to fly relatively under the radar, which is unlikely.  As beta nears, and the release window becomes apparent, we'll see if it truly is a sandbox or if, like many other games, they talk a good game to the hardcore early adopters and deliver something much closer to what the mainstream (and the investors) want when it comes to the real product.  I hope they stay true to what they've said on their boards, but I've been disappointed too many times to believe anything a developer says until I've played it for myself.

Then it's good for you that SV devs don't talk too much, prefer development rather than PR, and many other small, but very important things.

    And so it begins...

I must admit, while initally I didn't care much for MO(or Darkfall), recent revelations that I found in a thread whining about MO has made my interest spike. I am looking forward to MO a lot. I hope they can deliver.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
