First Person Melee Games

ZzuluZzulu Member Posts: 452

So, as we're still a few weeks away from the next info release, discussions have run a bit dry. So I figured I'd make this thread to stimulate some discussion about other games! Not just any games either, but specifically those where you play in a first person view and have melee combat!

These are the ones I've played;

Oblivion - Fun game with a lot of weapons and sorcery.

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic - Great but flawed game. Has perhaps the best FPV melee combat.

Pirates Vikings Knights - A very fun HL2 mod.

Hexen 1,2 - Classic Sword and Sorcery game.

The Chronicles of Riddick 1,2 - Great shooter with advanced melee system.

FEAR 1, 2 - great shooter with fun melee and bullettime

Condemned 1,2 - Scary game with good first person controls

Morrowind - Classic RPG and progenitor of Oblivion

Any of these you've played and enjoyed/hated? Any others you might want to recommend? Anything in these other games you'd want to see end up in Mortal Online?

Discuss!

let's not forget about hexen, gothic 1&2, thief (new version is under development), M&B, arx fatalis, and overall first rpgs on atari and amiga :)

there are couple other games I forgot to mention, but all above are enough to try

FPV games that aren't high fantasy based shouldn't even be mentioned.  And also, Gothic was 3rd person.  Great game though.  Theif too.

EQ is a good example, it's also a MMO.

It's almost a sin you didn't mention Morrowing or Mount and Blade.

Age of Chivalry ten times better than pirates vikings and knights. If an mmo could have this style of combat I'd be a happy man.

Well I knew about those games, however, I have not yet played them, so I didn't bring them up. I should probably play both M&M and Age of Chivalry, since I've heard nothing but praise for them.

You wont be disapointed, AoC is free if you have a HL2 source so nothing hurts to give it a shot. As for M&B, price has shot up so try it as you will but it's worth it honestly.
