Its a joke, just kill till you run out of durability. Dont think honor system would give me any motivation either.

Games Played:DoAC, EQ, CoH, Lineage 2, Planetside, and Shadowbane.

    So bashing on the PvP?

I knew the system would be unbalanced and a bit fumbly but this bad bias this early in the game is an ugly sign.

It really is a joke stop trying to be in denial. Its boring and you have to search through territories with lvl 20-40 guards to get to it usually.

Games Played:DoAC, EQ, CoH, Lineage 2, Planetside, and Shadowbane.

I've PvPed a little during beta. It was nice entertainment, but its only that.
When you go out to kill with a raid party, it can give you a lot of fun.
But other than that, there are no gains (is the honor system actually in place?)

There are no item drops from players. There is nothing to do in an enemy town.
So, the PvP doesn't have any use appart from being entertaining and therefore is really only present for people who like to PvP.

Its nice though that on a normal server you don't have to take part in PvP if you don't want to.

IMHO, Blizzard should add a purpose to PvPing. At least some kind of reward for slaying those evil opposing forces.
But all the same, if you like PvPing, it can be quite entertaining in WoW.

PvP is nice enough already... and the balance when duelling is close to perfect. Any class can beat any class with the right tactique and good luck. On PvP servers you will always fight any alliance you come across and on PvE servers you just type /pvp or attack a flagged player to become flagged for PvP. Real nice and simple although killing your opponent isnt rewarding as of yet (but it will be when the honor system and the organized raids kick in).

Just out of curiosity...what do you mean PvP server or pvE server?  I assumed that since this game is about warcraft: horde vs Alliance war and the like that the end game would be Horde vs Alliance in control of territory, not so?

If it isnt then I will be waiting for another game and changing my signature :)

Thanks for the info in advance.

Is there really much necessity for immediate gratification when PvPing? As far as the actual encountering and fighting goes, the PvP is awesome. I had my hunter fighting a shaman (equal levels) at the same level and the battle was strictly determined by who played it better. As far as I'm concerned the PvP is the best I've encountered in mmorpgs. And I have no problem fighting for fun even if they didn't implement the honor system.

Hersitent, I don't think that the story is quite as simple as horde vs. alliance... So don't expect one to come out on top, especially with Illidan and the blood elves still secluded in Outland and the Lich King in Northrend. But in pvp servers the majority of the territory is "contested", meaning if you see a member of the opposite faction, you're welcome to kill him..

(PvE is player vs. environment like EQ2, PvP is player versus player)

The contested territories will supposedly have raids in which you destroy the opposing side's town (with the help of seige engines) to get fame and guild points on both PvP and PvE servers. With this said, the article that claimed this was posted on the official site quite some time ago. If it is the sole reason yer gonna be WoWing, better wait for them to implement it first and see what happens with it.

PvP in the game is already working well, though and you can only hope things get even better.

And you can already attack and kill everyone from an opposing faction's town, only thing is you won't be getting anything but item drops from it(some npcs in faction towns drop good loot). And also you'll be needing a whole raid group of ~lvl 40 players to kill the dozen or so lvl 35-62 town guards(the norm is 40).

I played in stress test and OB, and got far enough into the game to see that some classes had been nerfed really, really badly because they were extremely overpowered in the beginning of CB, namely the Warrior, which is barely even able to hold its own against casters of the same level, sometimes even those with less XP. This is my biggest issue with the PvP, that and noobs are extremely restricted to where they can go without fear of being attacked by advanced players - the whole deal with contested territory and such.

The PvP is great in my opinion for two reasons. First you can do it anywhere, anytime if you just wanna go one on one, so its a great past-time if your waiting for a boss monster to appear or whatever because you don't actually die. Secondly, the raids are fun, even if you're a low level, you can still tag along and see what you can do against the best and its all in fun because all you have to do is run back to your body and join in again :) Haven't tried any of the raid stuff, but it sounds awesome... I would love to see Onyxia if I get that high of a level, that would be fun. (btw, i was in both stress tests... so not a lot of experience with higher level PvP).

If PvP is the same as it was in beta it is really gay.  When I played in Beta people from other towns could just run into your town and kill as much as they wanted to.  Guards did nothing, and everyone died.  So unless it's changed PvP is Gimp.
