Endgame content?

Hey guys,

AoC has a bad 'word of mouth' reputation for its endgame content. Is this still true?

what exactly is there to do endgame?

How many raids?

How many quests?

How long do they take?

Whats the point of doing pvp (I'm on a pve server)?

Are the sieges a big deal? Is there any point to them?

cheers for any replys

Word-of-mouth is the best way to determine whether a game is good or not. Reviews are done by one person only and can be bias. Developers always lie (especially Funcom) so you shouldn't trust them. This is why word-of-mouth from other players is the best way to get objective information.

The bottom line is that if a majority of players say AoC endgame sucks.. there is a big chance it SUCKS!

Most polls say lack of endgame is number one reason why players quit the game. That should answer your questions.

Depends who you ask, some will say yes some will say no.
what exactly is there to do endgame?
24 man raids and group instances, crafting, gathering, siege battles and minigames are pretty much the endgame content, on PvP servers you also will have the world PvP.
    How many raids?
    Group instances:

    Xibaluku

    Atzel's Fortress

    Epic keshetta

    Onyx's lair

    Scorpion caves

    Caravan hideout or something

    Raids:

    Yakhmar T1 raid

    Vistrix Lair T1 raid

    Kylliki's Crypt T1 raid

    Black ring castle T2 raid

    Wing 1
    Wing 2

    Wing 3

    How many quests?
Umm good question never counted them, there is a gap between 75 to 80 still, this gap should be covered with the new instance called Common district in Tarantia that comes with Patch 1.05
    How long do they take?
The raids takes from 30 min to couple of hours, depending on group/raid your with.  Yakhmar can take about 30minutes to 45 minutes unless people do stupid things.
Whats the point of doing pvp (I'm on a pve server)?
For my part I do prefer PvP simply because it makes it more fun to fight non scripted encounters. Scripted encounters are easy to predict and beat, whilst players often have their way of playing and you have to learn how to react to different things they do etc.
Are the sieges a big deal? Is there any point to them?
The battlekeeps do give PvP invulns so for guilds having them that can give them upper hand in PvP, the sieges themself are usually laggy atleast on Fury (EU). Would love to see a lagfree sige I do have the feeling those could be loads of fun. But it boils down to how much you like PvP, if you in general don't like PvP I doubt you will like sieges.

    cheers for any replys

    No
what exactly is there to do endgame?
    Instances:

    Xib (6man)
    Onynx (6man)
    Atzels (6man)
    Caravan (6man)
3 Resource Instances (6 man/ scale to level)
    Slaughterhouse (solo)
    5 Villas (solo)

    Raids:

    Tier1 - 3 raid instances (4 bosses)
    Tier2- 3 Raid instances/Wings (9 bosses)

    PvP:

    FFA - pvp servers
    Sieges (pve and pvp servers)
    CE pvp resource collecting
    Mini Games

    Others:

Crafting and collecting world/instance drop recipes
Resourcing (both pve and pvp resources)
    Guild City progression
    Battlekeep progression

    How many raids?
Answered above. Two tiers of raiding. Tier one has 3 raid instances ( Kyllikkis Crypt, The Dragons Lair, and Yahkmars Cave) and totals 4 bosses. Tier two is Black Ring Citadel and is comprised of 3 wings. Wing1 has 3 bosses, Wing2 has 4 bosses, and Wing3 has 2 bosses making 9 total T2 bosses.
There is a BRC attunement chain which involves killing Vistrix (T1 boss) so that you can start T2 and you can not move into Wing 3 until you have or someone in your guild has key pieces that drop off the last bosses in Wing 1 and wing 2.
    How many quests?

Fun, to pass time. And its not always available on pve servers, its hit or miss.
Are the sieges a big deal? Is there any point to them?
You get pvp buffs for owning a Battlekeep, the higher the tier your BK city the better the pvp bonuses. So if you do ever pvp, even in the mini-games, people who have battlekeeps have the advantage.

The reason people complain there is no endgame (although for a young game theres actually a great deal of content) is because most people raid. For someone who raids doing the 6 man instances are pointless unless your helping people or gathering recipes. Also on that note, besides alchemy crafting is more or less a waste of time to raiders because crafted items are not compareable to raid pieces.

So besides attending raids for the week (7 day resets) there really isn't many reasons to log (for a raider). If there was cross-server mini-games I would definetly log alot more but as it stands, the intial pvp craze that was around after the merges is pretty much gone and the level 80 mini-games rarely pop.

I log to raid, which I enjoy because I have a guild of really great people. I do play around on my alts at times but my main is really only played for raiding and Testlive.

Check the pvp rankings, the vast majority of the big pvp guilds also raid and if you have played on TL at all you would know that raid gear > pvp gear in 1.05. Comparing Conqueror T2 armor to Conq pvp armor there is about a 5k health difference.

I also consider AoC as a more pve focused game, thats why when the OP asked about endgame content i talk about pve content... not to mention he specifically states he plays on a PVE SERVER!

There is no crosss server pvp, Sieges seldom take place.... and the ganking that takes place on pvp servers is not what most would consider competitive pvp.

next time state your piece and leave the insults at home, your not impressing anyone.

Crashloop, alexander, thanks for the replies, you gave me exactly what I ws looking for. It looks like theres a fair bit of endgame content and enough for me to do generally until an expansion comes out. Assuming I don't go off and find a 'shinier' mmo :p

Vikingclub. Errr, you kind of answered my first question but you ignored the rest of them. And your reply was so filled with bitterness I can't imagine you expected me to take you seriously.

He might be bitter (though I did not see that) but he is right. The further you go in Age of Conan the less fun it becomes. Here is a poll check it out. www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game/191/view/forums/post/2791026#2791026

Lack of endgame is #1 with 20% of votes. Those other guys who aswered your question either don't play the game or they are lying. Endgame is biggest problem with Age of Conan right now. Even Funcom has admitted it.

Yes if you look for it, you can find it.

You can do same raids over and over again. Or how about doing some RP in the local tavern? "My name is Gandor the invincible!!!". You can even play hide-and-seek with your friend.

Endgame is there if you look very closely. But if you want real, fun, exciting endgame pvp or pve.. then I'm afraid you are playing the wrong game.

And what games have you played that endgame comes to you? Even WoW as so many people likes to use as a shining example of having loads of content works this way. I wouldn't find endgame content unless I looked for it myself, most fun game I ever played was SWG, the endgame there was nothing except for the stuff you did yourself. It was a sandbox mmo and I never was bored in Pre CU, CU was okish, NGE made it pointless. the content in SWG was awesome because I had to invent it myself. Always liked that type of games. :)

No need to start talking about WoW, SWG, whatever.. stay on topic please.

Have you seen the polls? Have you seen just how many players have quit because endgame is lacking? According to polls, most players quit because there is no fun endgame and even Funcom is saying endgame is the biggest problem at the moment.

This was actually still on topic, You said the content was there if I looked for it and I replied with examples from other games I have played too. I have seen the poll yeah, and the poll is just a limited poll that says roughly 20% left due to end game content issue. According to the poll if we see the result as solid about 20% of the 700K people who left the game did so due to end game content.

Let me do my best to explain something to you respectfully.

The vast majority of people who talk poorly about this game left fairly close to launch... this includes the people that are participating in your poll. The game has changed tremendously since these people have played, not only performance-wise but there has been alot of content added.

Maybe your right, back in June endgame wasn't the best.

I provided a list of current endgame activities. I really only raid on my main but thats what I enjoy. Back when most people left raiding consisted of only Tier one, and even the tier 1 available had broken scripts. Since then all tier one encounters have been fixed and all three wings of tier two have been released. Xib was added for a new 6man and slaughterhouse for solo and Caravan was finished a while back. There a new  high-end zone and another new lvl 80 instance coming in 1.05. What more do you want from such a young game? Its already come a very very long way.

Or you could be right, im just lying  :)
