So lots of posters say that EQ2 should not have PvP and that it is a PVE only game. I note that both the Gamespot and Gamespy reviews mention the lack of PvP. I cut and pasted quotes from both reviews. Note that many posters here who are against PvP hold the position that the game is better without it. Reading below, I don't get the impression that either the Gamespot or the Gamespy reviewers felt that way:
From Gamespot EQ2 Review:
EverQuest II is purely focused on player vs. environment gameplay, so there's no player vs. player combat in the game whatsoever. This is a surprising omission, especially considering that the structure of the game seems like an obvious setup for some PvP action, since all players are forced to swear allegiance to the forces of good or the forces of evil. For comparison's sake, the original EverQuest did include player vs. player combat, as well as the ability to harmlessly duel with other players (that much, at least, would have been nice here).
From Gamespy EQ2 Review:
Players whose priority is in competitive gameplay, however, will come up much shorter. In no uncertain terms, the following is true: if you're looking for player-versus-player content in the traditional sense, then EverQuest II probably isn't for you. Though the developers have implied that the game might feature some content geared toward this in the future, it's not in here yet. The closest thing to it is the guild system, which pits player groups in a sort of indirect competition with each other. Groups of players have the option of completing "writs" for their home city, and their guilds are awarded a special type of experience when these are completed. Higher guild levels allows its members to purchase special items through "City Prestige Merchants," which can take the form of honorific titles, or powerful pieces of equipment, or even the opportunity to participate in guild-wide raids. It's an intriguing system, no doubt, but it doesn't quite fill the role of PvP content in a way that will be satisfactory to players to whom that kind of thing is of paramount import.

sometimes I really think people are stupid when they cant figure that out for themselves lol... instead bashing eq2 because they dont have pvp...
?? Did you read the post Kboy.. maybe you posted in the wrong thread.. didn't see any bashing anywhere in the original message. Or in those reviews.. they simply stated the fact that although you pick a good/evil allegiance there is no PvP.
Without PvP all it is is: "Look at me I am an uber nerd I have the highest level"
before he pulls the trigger
Hopefully eq2 implements pvp soon.. I am pretty sure it was planned all along.. but sony got lazy and decided to hold it off.. or maybe greedy? Maybe there will be an expansion for pvp.. who knows? The minute eq2 gets more than 1 expansion every 2-3 years is the minute I stop playing, it was the reason ai quit eqlive after all .. I left for like 3 months.. wanted to come abck and there were like 2 new expansions that toally ruined the game for me..
Funny how to reputable Reviewers were so stupid. Sony themselves from the start said there was no PvP, so the "omission surprise" comment only makes the reviewer sound like a moron. Either way im extremely happy there's no Open PvP, no tweaking, so far not alot of people selling Game Money for real cash, which I thought was retarted, the whoel purpose of these games IS to adventure, kill shit, loot shit, dungeon crawl, and raid. And to EARN your way. Atleast they can't sell status points for sure you have to earn those.
