Any news on a release date for Darkfall? It's been a few months since extended closed beta started, I'm just wondering when AV plans to release to the general public.

It really is released as far as they're concerned, they might make unlimited copies available to be purchased sometime in the near future, and they might at some point add in more servers too.
I've not heard anything about these things having a time table yet though.
Released to the general public for a while now.....just on a VERY limited basis. Doubt they change for a while. Check their shop daily to see if its buyable.
Lots of threads on this very subject with how to go about getting Darkfall...search is your friend.

Hopefully soon. I can assure you that won't happen until they get some additional servers in place. I'm going on my third month of paid beta and things are progressing nicely. We have frequent patches and believe it or not Aventurine seems to be listening to the player base when it comes to changes in the game.
I anticipate the current single server they have turning into something resembling a test server (They need one). Additional servers will be opened up (North American one I hope) and they will begin something resembling a re-release with journalist reviews and perhaps even advertising. I havn't heard anything on a time frame.
I'm having a lot of fun in extended closed paid beta.

Were are you getting that info from.
They never guarnteed a NA server would open. Only that there was a possiblitly if they could get a NA publisher and enough demand to support one.
They never said anything about a re-release, just that the they would open the store permanently when their server infastructure was able to handle the load. Given that the server crashes every time there's a large seige, and they've still got plenty of lag problems that result in mobs not spawning after 2 months I wouldn't hold my breathe on that.
They've pretty much stated quite the opposite of what you said about advertisement. They never planned on doing any. They've been pretty clear about keeping the game as low key as possible and remaining for all intent and purposes underground.
In fact, they've never said anything about what their plans for the future are, other then maybe a NA server and eventually keeping the shop open.
The official site has been updated. The front page hasn't, but the faq has. It would take less time to take out the beta link then it would have for them to make some of the changes to the faq.
You can not go to the shop and "buy it right now" cause the shop is opened at random times, on random days, and for only a short period; wich means you can only buy it when the shop is open, wich isn't the same as being able to "buy it right now".
When they stop doing things like adjusting core mechanics and implimenting art assets it'll cease to be a beta. Right now that's all it is, and they're charging people to test it.

Lol ....... perhaps I should have been a little clearer than stating "I anticipate"
The second paragraph is pure speculation on my part. I do recall hearing something about a NA server being opened up at some point in time but am not going to search for a link or anything. As to the rest of your post ........... "OK"
There is absolutely not going to be a NA server or any additional servers for that matter. If you honestly believe that you are extremely decieved in your thinking. The game world is largely empty and players are quitting by the day. Of course there are diehard fans that remain but the game is currently in limbo. It gains players each day as they allow new people to purchase the game but at the same itme a similar ammount if not more are leaving.

I wait for 8 years for this game and quit after a month playing. Its buggy, it encourages players to be complete a holes, there is cheating, its laggy to europe from the US, they made items lvl based in a skill based game which is just lame. I could go on but this game really isn't worth another thought until they patch it to release state and come out with a NA server (with NO transfers for gods sake, enough exploiting on the first server).
Ohh combat system blows... which is a shame since they tried saying it was somewhat like Mount and Blade. Not even close. Its like using a knife in a fps. Archery isn't bad because its pretty realistic.
Gotta say its a MAJOR grind too. Skill based yet they want you to agonize over raising skills, which encouraged many players to find exploits to raise everything they could. All in all they should have just make a fps style online game without raising skills but instead choosing skill sets to use and jsut getting into the pvp and sieging.
This is not a sandbox game because it really only supports one style of gameplay and every support role is just to make that one style most successful.

According to the website it's in Open Beta. So I'd imagine soon.
He who keeps his cool best wins.
Isn't that a contradiction?
The definition of closed beta is a limited player base which the devs control. I thought when a game "released" it meant people could buy it.
-------------------------
Website has been out of date for a long time now, the only real things that are up to date are on their offical forums.
Which seems a little strange that their relying on people to peruse through posts to find out facts about their game.
Edit: People CAN Purchase this game right now, it just has a limited number of copies for sale due to limited server space.

What Hairy said. By any historically established definition of "released game" Darkfall is not released yet.
