Virus concern

Yesterday I downloaded the Spellborn client from www.fileplanet.com. After the download completed I of course immediately opened the file and started installing the game. Well at the same time the game was installing I had a virus scan running and was scanning my hard drive. I use AVG 8.5 to protect my computer. During the install an alert window popped up showing a list of 6 viruses that were found on my computer. All 6 viruses were found in the Spellborn folder. Before I could do anything my computer then crashed.

I've tried contacting fileplanet.com to give them a headsup about this but there's no way to contact them. I'm kind of surprised I haven't heard anything about anyone else discovering viruses. All I can say is that if you downloaded this game, perform a virus scan to be safe. Fileplanet has always been a reliable source for downloading games so I'm sure that this had nothing to do with them.

I downloaded my copy from fileplanent and had no problem with it. But AVG doesn't like GameGuard, so keep that in mind. GameGuard is what is laughingly known as "anti hacker" software.  In other words, its more of a problem for the honest players and the Dev's themselves(increased support work) than it is to any real "hacker".  Its main appeal is to non tech suits, who look at it as a cheap, one stop app, for issues that should have been addressed at the start of design.

I had the same thing happen. After I uninstalled it I scanned the downloaded file and there was no virus so I reinstalled it. The viruses pop up when I go to play the game and it updates. At about 11% into the update and 4 viruses pop up. I went through this twice. I'm not sure what to do. if anyone has any ideas, I'd like to here them. Apparently the virus infects some key files to the game because it will not play if you remove them. The virus is founs in the Win32/tcos/devir file.

The virus's are false posatives, they are due to gameguard, I turn my virus stuff off when I play tcos, it is a common thing, nothing bad happened when I turned my virus program off, if I dont turn it off some of the tcos .dll files are falsley recognized as viruses

btw avg is one of the biggest conflicters with tcos causing false virus identities, which is what I use as well, also best to download tcos from the tcos sight itself, I promise that when I turned off avg nothing bad happened, I wouldnt post this if someones puter would be harmed.

Thanks.  That's kind of what I thought since I couldn't get a definition on the virus and figured that if there was a virus in the update patch then they would know about it.  I am using AVG as well, so that's probably iy.  Thanks for the advice, at least I feel a little better about not deleting those files.
