even thou i only played till level 14ish,  id say the TOTAL land mass might become to a comparable size of azeroth (Kalimdor + eastern kingdoms) not alot of zones but they zones are big and have a lot of different monsters.

Let's get an estimate from a NON-WOW player and perhaps someone ACTUALLY PLAYING Aion.

LOL that's mean. Ha ha ha.

Well I'm level 28 and I've been to many places. The land mass is pretty huge and it adds a lot being that you can go on the enemy race land though rifts in time and space, Abyss (the giant PVP land of floating islands), etc. Now in the korean version I here there is beyond more areas that are on the Chinses version right now. There is a great variation of monsters too and great aphomsphere. Also weather changes in each location. Day, Night and Rain in the jungle. Day, Night, and Sand Storms in the desert (don't forget heat). Places are very big.

The first 2 maps are very small (lvl1-20ish). From there the maps open up quite a bit. Sorry I can't compare it to any other mmo because I never played wow or the rest of them.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

It's not going to seem very big considering you can fly around alot and sometimes teleport to locations. However it's really big and the advantage here is you basically have a flying mount to easily get to where you need to go. Not much running but lots of land mass. The Abyss might seem like a small area, but it's huge and thats where they will expand. Think of everything else as one big starting zone. The real game starts in the Abyss and thats where the expansions will add content.
