MMORPG.com Final Fantasy XI Correspondent Brandon Shaw writes this survival guide for the old Final Fantasy XI expansion Chains of Promathia.
There comes a time in every Adventurer's life when the Final Fantasy storyline MUST be completed. This gruelling and unfortunate experience is one of the many arduous necessities of the game that must be completed in order for your character to become anything in FFXI. So this week, the focus will be Chains of Promathia (often abbreviated CoP, or PM). This expansion was released in the United States in Fall 2004, being the second expansion in the existence of FFXI. Though no new jobs were added to the game, a new endgame area called Al'Taieu, or Sea was premiered in this expansion, which is home to quite possibly the most difficult HNM to defeat in the entire game, Absolute Virtue.

Your own COP LS is good when it works. But I found it easier to join people on weekends that were calling it out. Too many times your LS has at least one member who can not make the day. Between sky and everyone doing so many things in a LS they only agree to 1 day a week and after everyone has that one day they can not play this LS idea takes for ever. If your people agree to always be there, which they will, real life still comes in.
I belonged to several large all 75 LS, and we often used our many jobs to help people do COP and other things. There was always people in our LS that could not come for they had friends that were not on line and they could not go without them. Or they had a reg LS set up and even if they had missed several weeks they helt themself up for that LS. Well, at first and they begain wanting us to run again.
We had to make the same runs many times but that was the only way we got everyone all the COP and other things like COP. We set aside certain days to help. Of course there were always those few that needed a special day.
Talk to every new party you join and ask if thier LS helps thier members do COP and any other things you need. Join it if you find it. In the mean time spend week ends joining what ever shout you hear and hopefully at least half of them do it every week end and you can join thier LS. Many times they are a LS like I had and while 3 or 4 of us were just helping we had to shout for 1 or 2 more and would be glad to have you each week end.
Never let an exp party keep you from joining a team ready to run what you need.
And remember weekends, weekends, weekends, that's when the most shouts are for what you need. Hopefully this weekend you will join a shout that will take you all the way.
