Have Blizzard shot themselves in the "European" foot?

My intention was to play WoW but with the European release being in 2005 I bought EQ2 as a bit of a stop-gap until it arrived.
I'm enjoying EQ2 far more than I though I would. So much, in fact, I doubt that WoW will lure me away.
I was wondering if any other Europeans have done the same or if they're still holding out for WoW.
I struggle to see why the same game needs a seperate beta test and release for Europe. Of course the different language versions need to have content checked but does that really warrant a seperate beta test?

Well I was one of those that pre ordered both and cancelled WoW after i found out about the billing thing.
I played both in beta and was split minded.However,EQ2 solved most of the problems i had about it when the game went live which amazed me.
So i am having a wonderful time in EQ2 now and only reason i see to buy WoW in 2005 is if i got fed up of EQ2 by then.
Sorry but when i need to mess with billing or be forced to go to paypal because of a game i simply will not buy it even if its the best mmorpg that is.
So yes having a nice blast in EQ2 now
Well I played the Beta of WoW, I have it on my PC, I live in the UK and can't now play the bugger. I enjoyed it and I'm no fan of EQ but I'm tempted to see what its like as I'll have to wait so long for WoW.
Its all the more annoying because Blizzard is owned by Vivendi Universal, the French media giant.

I think Bliz has a perfectionist predicament towards all their products (thats why we love them
). After having endure a LOT of lag in SOEs SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) and played the WoW-beta (which was &%@?ing great) im going to stay vigilant.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Remember Bliz knows it is a risk to delay the European launch, because of the competition from SOE and others. Would they be taking a risk like that if it wasnt worth it?

I did rather like WoW I won't deny. Its just annoying that the European game is launched so late. I mean they even miss the Christmas selling period over here.

It might not be a long time to you or me. But I wonder how many sales Blizzard are going to lose over the Xmas period.
The real questions are WHY they decided to not release world wide and WHY is a seperate beta required for Europe.

Considering its almost impossible to find a copy of even the standard retail game (WoW) in some areas of the country, i dont think Blizzard has shot themselves "in the foot" with the delayed release in Europe. Also, this hasnt stopped some Euro gamers from getting thier hands on copies of WoW from friends that live here in the states. Just comes down to how bad you want it if you live in Europe i guess /shrug.
As I said further up I think blizzard is perfectionistik. There have been some unanticipated problems in the closed <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Europe beta testing that wouldnt have been detected before launch if it wasnt for the separate betas. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Of curse then on the other hand they could just have run the tests simultaneously. The reason for them making separate tests is properly because the American test where for develop and system testing where the Europe test was simply for testing system and it would be to recourse consuming having to update both EU and US servers under the early betas. Thus the EU test started late because they were only for system tests and therefore the game is delayed. {THIS IS NOT FACT JUST MY THOUGHTS.}
Try to remember Blizzard isnt god or some better being it just another company that is trying to get the money out of are pockets (and their damn &%¤@ing good at it
).
