I'm normally not the guy to pour tons of praise or venom over internet foras about something as insignificant as a game. But last summer of 2008 I was so frustrated with Age of Conan that I posted a fair amount of critisism before I quit. I was one of the guys that suffered badly from performance issues and also got nailed bad with gem oneshotting (I was not a Ranger). Well, let me share my latest experience. I joined Age of Conan like 4 weeks back. I have leveled one of my mid 60 characters to 80 now and I just can't give Craig and his team enough praise on how they turned something unplayable around to a great success. People are happy, and old vets like me are enjoying themselves again. This boedes, well and I see myself hanging around Hyboria in forseeable future. People keep an eye on this title.

Maybe you should post with that account, instead of this brand new, shiny, made just today one, it would certainly help make your case better.
Don't take it personally. People who've recently joined the forums, and/or have low post counts are looked at with suspicion, especially when they start cheer leading (or bashing) threads about a game. The resemblance to fanboi (or troll) posts is difficult to ignore.

Ohh.. I never had an account here. I am a Gamespot lurker. And I posted the same thing over there some time back. I am impressed over how much they turned that game around. Just sayin.

Could you please make a link to that ?

Sadly OP this is not the first time we have heard a story exactly like yours here on these forums. Even more shameful is this is classic denial by previous 1month initial subscribers, they have been doing things like this in their other MMO for YEARS. It is all around these forums so you will get stick for being new.
Only silver lining to this cloud is that you found fun and therefore can speak from current experience in game where some can't. Stay away from their products, warn your friends, and find a better game to play. Please do not have fun ofc...
My Sincerest Condolences. For those that seek to put your experience down for the sake of it.
Can you say Ironic?
Btw not my post but it does swing both ways.
good for you OP in that your having fun and shame your being attacked for that.
As you can see from my join date and post count i don't post often, but I too was one of the disheartened AOC Launch players. I even came to mmorpg.com and posted a few of my concerns in topics I started, something I have NEVER done, I always just read topics and chcked on upcoming games. But I felt the need to warn other members about the shadey dealings from AOC customer support, the fast one they pulled on the open beta players, and the lack of content they are promising which i knew from closed beta would not be ready.
Mysteriously all 3 negative topics of mine were deleted. After those few days I never returned to this site until last december 2008. Something real shadey was going on concerning this site and AOC. I dont understand how my positive topics with flaming/trolling going on were not deleted but the others were. How convienent that AOC had paid advertisement on this site as well, hmmm.
Anyway instantly people labeled me a suspicious account because i had 3 posts to my name and they failed to notice my join date was a while ago at the time when I posted the topics about my AOC concerns. So I disappeared into MMO oblivion.
Recently I resubbed to AOC, and eventhough I really do hate instance MMOs I have to applaud the AOC team for the complete turn around they made with AOC. I never had many performance issues in the past (I had a high end rig at the time) and I thought the launch went smooth. I've seen worse with servers crashing, game breaking bugs, and truely unplayable content in the first tier level. But the more I played the more pissed I became about the lack of content, end game content, and unpolished feel the game had after lvl 30. After my previous negative topics about Funcom customer service, shadey antics and missing content went missing I decided no need to come back to this website and spread hate on AOC. Instead I just took my business elsewhere. Hit them where it hurts, in their wallets. Apparently I wasn't alone.
Well I am back and I have to admit the game truely shines and has even more potential then before. It isn't perfect (I haven't met a MMO that is) but it really is a much more pleasurable experience. If this was the game they would've released at launch, they wouldve been a GREAT success. I am a bit worried about their launch of a new MMO "Secret World" but I hope they can keep pumping out the improvements to AOC and content.
Am I going to stay subbed forever? Probably not, I have a short attention span and a tedious work schedule. But for now I am enjoying myself, sieges, and a great exerience in game.
