Whirlwind is just a "name" of some popular build . It's entirely possible to solo this game up until raids - but then it's sure you won't need solo anymore. Trust me.

But there's more to it. In coming Mod 9 difficulty of quests will be scalable to the number of players doing a quest. So, if you do a quest alone, monsters will have much less HP. If someone joins you, monster HP will increase by some fraction. All this in real time - no need to exit the quest or dungeon!

Additionally, hirelings (which are in game for some time now) will be improved, and won't scale difficulty so much up as real players would do - logical, as humans are always better. This game rewards thinking, so no AI will match good players, unlike Guild Wars PvE system.

    Fun story from yesterday:

I was in a quest, where one person needed to pull a switch to open important gate, and second... needed to free him. All because first person who pulled the lever not only opened the gate in different section of dungeon, but automatically got imprisoned after pulling it. Other gates closed him there.

So I thought... how the hell I can do this quest solo? When I pull the lever, I can't exit this room, let alone reach the gate than probably opened elsewhere. Then I realized I had a hireling contract in my backpack.

So I thought... I'll summon him, command him to wait near the lever, then I'll move out of the room and order him to pull it. And it worked perfectly .

So, hireling imprisoned himself while opening far section of the dungeon, and I went there to see another switch - when I pulled it, I've freed him so he could reach to me. And he came just about time, because I was attacked by the undead after freeing him.

So yes, it's entirely possible to solo most of the game, and seems like Turbine want's it more and more rewarding & fun experience each update (module in DDO terms).

Wow, Sarr that sounds awesome. Looks like I'll be resubbing once Mod 9 goes live and I get just a little feedback on that.

In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.

So you will be back in July then?

Yes, as Kate Paiz put it, "right around the anniversary".

If that's when it goes live then "yes". Too many gamers have little patience, something I have a lot of.

There is a difference between patience and tolerance, some people need to learn that distinction. DDO has received a lot of patience from players who love the game so much they take 6 months off but still pay Turbine monthly so as not to lose a customer. Few games have the community DDO has.

When a MOD is roughly going to be four months late with no explanation given you need to be a saint or a fanboy to have that kind of patience. Of course since you are not currently paying or playing it is much easier to have "patience" with the game you quit already.

I am coming to suspect delays in mod 9 relate to whatever the secret development is. I can't see anything in the known content of mod 9 that would cause a delay. Without knowing what the secret is, it is of course impossible to know if it justifies the delays or not.

As mentioned impatience isn't something I suffer from.

Hasn't Turbine said more than once that Vast & Mysterious has nothing to do with MOD9? If so the delays would also have nothing to do with MOD9. The delays are kind of easy to understand, Turbine has understaffed DDO for over 2 years now. Should be pretty clear since each MOD seems to be later than the last and yet the bugs are not worked out. If each MOD was more polished and less bugged then the delays would be more understandable.

You may not see the delay, but then you are not on the dev team nor in any way involved enough to know what the delay may be. Turbine should try to communicate better as 4 months is too long to go with no reasons given. This is no longer a question of patience and the people who keep saying that are making me laugh. Tolerance is now closer to the truth, unless of course you think 3 years of not nearly enough is still deserving of patience.

If MOD 9 was a month pastdue maybe your lack of patience comment would hold water but since it is not likely to be out before June and that pretty much guarantees only one more Mod this year how does Turbine justify the obvious trend of less for more?

For me to tolerate it, it would have to be annoying me, which it isn't.

As I said I only suspect, as you point out nobody knows what is happening behind the scenes, so it is all supposition.

It´s the new turbine launcher that still have buggs and causing the mod 9 delays. I played mod 9 on Llamania and the new area and quests are fine and working as intended, some fixes to buggs is beeing made aswell but they are just minor.

Except Turbine has said V&M has nothing to do with nor will be out with Mod 9 so you are suspecting something they say has no chance of being the cause.

You mean the launcher they borrowed from LOTRO where it is known to work so poorly Turbine stickied the workaround on the LOTRO boards months ago? If that is holding up MOD9 Turbine needs to learn priorities. I highly doubt that is the single and only reason holding it up.

Wow man thats crazy I'd never quit playing a game and still pay for it.  Either they are rich or someone they know must work for Turbine or something, because  it seems like a waste of money to me.

Depends for some people on why you quit the game. I did the same with Tabula Rasa after a couple of months I stopped playing but liked the idea of the game so much I paid for a couple of months while not playing, then like you said I realized I was crazy and stopped. I guess if you feel you like the game enough it seems like a small investment. To me the only way you can make a company like Turbine hear you is with your wallet.

We don't have access in the EU so are generally in the dark, interesting to know. Cheers.
