EU Extra Tax?

This is not a bash Im just curious.
My month with my pack is coming up to renewal which I immediatly cancelled as I do with any game. However the current subscription costs that I see have a VAT tax of 15% smacked onto the system.
AoC is an okay game and definately has some bonuses but its not worth paying more for than other offerings. Does this tax fade if you enter an EU creditcard?

I think someone posted awhile back from EU and said they just buy time cards to pay for AoC since it is cheaper. I am from NA and got a time card cheap which essentially gave me a free month for the price.
If you enjoy the game and think you might play for a few months you might look into some EU sites that sell AoC time cards and do some pricing.

VAT is regulated by EU and funcom can't do jack all about that, same goes for any MMO they all have to pay the extra tax. Using a game card might be cheaper then using the credit card, but never bothered looking into that.

As others said it, it is required by law. Every online service is taxable if the end user/purchser is within the EU and of course the service is offered from an EU coutnry.
Everyone pays tax Im not against it please dont think this is an oh noes Im being taxed thread, I dont blame funcom I don't blame the EU.
But why then are other european offerings not levying this tax onto EU subscribers WoW, Lotro, WAR all 8.99 a month with no tax levied.
I guess they chose to build it into their subscription model.
Every company giving you a service in EU is charging you the Vat. But as you said, they build it in side the sub. It will probably be a smart move in their side. Most "common" bussines and shops in EU, at least in spain, offer you the price of things "Vat included" so customers dont find out at the time to pay with a bigger payment than expected. If funcom is not doing it, they should, as I said, is a smart decision.
If I rememberd correctly, even SOE, a North american based company is giving eu customers "VAT included" prices, at least as far as I remember.

AoC is a good game no doubt but I can get the same enjoyment playing most games out today.

So they indicate both prices /w and /wo VAT. While WOW and LOTRO has prices only inclusive of VAT. The only diff is that their subscription price is lower.

Im just not a hardcore fan of anything and can happily sit playing something else and get the same enjoyment. WoW, Lotro, War, Aoc they are all chat rooms for me with an avatar and an action bar that does similar things.
If I absolutely loved conan I probably wouldnt have a problem but I don't its just an ok game that needs alot of work, I refuse to pay more for that than others that offer me a similar product.
Thats true. If they are all more or less the same for you, you better go for the cheaper one.
To be fair that thread is alot based on Pay By Cash and you are using a creditcard. That is really not the same.
