Why is it that when the topic of politics is mentioned, big flashing neon signs go over our head lab

Seriously.

Republican or Democrat.

Conservative or Liberal.

Red or Blue.

White or Black.

Montague or Capulet.

Are we all just wearing blinders that prevent us from learning from the past?

It is a very simple theme that throughout history has shown devastating consequences.

It's almost like we stop seeing people and ideas for what they are, but begin to see them as the label they carry.

Why does it matter if it was a LIBERAL who said it? If it was offensive, it was offensive. If it was stupid, then it was stupid.

What is the point of snapping that little label on to the end? To generalize ideologies and make communicating easier?

It just seems like a case of I am not willing to think for myself so I snap on a label and use all their answers to questions.

Amen. It's time for stuff like that to stop. I get why they do it, but that's what makes it so bad.

It's pushed into Americans at a young age. Everyone has to be labeled, try to fit a label, and shun any label that is not their label. The same reason why men don't carry purses and 90% of woman are too afraid to leave the house without make up on.

The people adjust their own views to either fit liberal or conservative, then hate on the other party. There should be no parties, becuase i bet very few of those people are actually entirely conservative or entirely liberal. The majority of young culture now are beginning to be free thinking again. And just like all aspects of life, there is very rarely black or white, people are always afraid to be some sort of grey which they indeed acutally are.

I agree. politics shoudl be done in the grey, the black and white just allows people to pit the blame on someone else with little or no thought or evidence to back it up. Its always the democrats AND the republicans faults at the same time. figure that one out. People just like to argue i guess; it seems like people are more worried about being right then acutally fixing issues in their government.

it is easier to blame an opponent rather than find a solution.
