Wel, not really, but we did something that the majority of the people ingame, and especially those who haven't played to much would consider impossible.
Consider, a rifter, sentinal, and enyo, a T1 and 2 T2 frigates. Our target? A Raven Navy Issue, which, as it turned out, was mostly faction fitted.
I won't lie to you, the 3 of us have between 10-15 mil SP, so we aren't noobs, and we've worked together a fair bit, so we all know we can depend on our gang mates. But this was an awesome battle, and incredibly FUN!
The battle lasted around 14 minutes (calculated by the ammo I used and my rate of fire) and started with the enyo pilot in an incurses probing ship. We probed out a mission runner and the sentinal and I (rifter) jumped to the gate, jumped in, and engaged our target as the incurses warped one system over to pick up his enyo.
We worked on the drones first (T2 mediums) which primaried the sentinal. After we had killed one the sentinal warped out because he just hit structure and I continued on the drones. I killed another (now primaried by the drones) and hang on 'til the sentinal warped back so I could drop point and warp off to repair.
I warped back only seconds behind our enyo and the drones were history within a seconds of my return.
Now for the main target! The main obstacle to downing our target were his shields and cap booster. With 2 small neuts (sentinal) and a nos (rifter) we weren't able to hurt his cap too badly, but we did force him to burn through boosters a little faster. I'd say we were about 20% through his shield when he used his last cap booster because after that his shields went down much faster. His shields took probably close to 10 minutes to exhaust.
During this time we are cycling point between us so we can alternately recharge cap and keep repaired. After that one time the sentinal went into strucure though, nobody was in any real danger of dying, Once, when I was primaried, I got down to low armor, but no big deal, I warped off and let my gang mates handle things while I repped and returned.
Once through his shields we tried to ransom him for 300 mil. We tried several times but to no avail. We took his armor in less than a minute, and held fire to give him a final chance to pay before the mission rats finished him. Nope! No dice!
Finally, we popped him and went for his pod, but he was too quick and warped away to safety.
A conservative estimate (using low contract prices) for his faction loot was around 500 mil. Not bad!
But the main thing is, this was an INCREDIBLY fun fight! It worked because of 3 pilots who have flown together and know they can trust one another in a tough fight. And that, to me at least, is what EVE is all about!

I love it.
Great story of small, inexpensive low sp requirement ships taking out a larger very well geared ship.
Brains and tactics over brawn and SPs every time.
It's hard to say who is more important in this equation. The well trained pirates or the well trained mission runner. Great story and very easy to believe. I would never fly that ship for just that reason.
First let me say thats a great kill bro, Gratz!
While reading your post I couldn't help but think If CCP was smart they would actually make mission running more of a challenge to the point of that pilot having actually pvp fits.
You would have never run away with a Scram/web on you.
I personally think CCP needs to let NPCs have pirate tendencies so they dont get caught like that.
I mean seriously the only reason you took him down was due to warping away over and over again.
But really great kill, I always enjoyed killing mission runners since they are totally not fit for that type of combat.... kinda like killing a miner.
Edit: i personally like reading about low risk pilots finally getting blown up. that guy probably had disposable income and could afford that ship ten times over easily its good that you blew him up. My two favorite targets are High sec hulk miners and Level IV mission runners both have no risk and are fat cats when it comes to the wallet.

Good point JGMIII. That would intorduce an interesting wrinkle into the equation. In the engagement I described a warp scrambler would have been an interesting complication, but we still might have been able to beat him if we planned our needed departures and began burning away from him in time to get out of scram range before popping. Also, a BS or BC without drones would gain very little by having a warp scrambler when fighting small ships. Once this guys drones were done we were in no danger of popping at all. And, if the Enyo had been part of the engagement from the beginning we may not have needed to warp out at all because we would have had the Enyo's DPS to take out the drones in short order.
It would take a little to adapt, but overall I would welcome such a change. I love a good challenge and a good tactical puzzle to solve.
And all the hater newbs on this forum think eves combat is boring lol!
Makes me smile that little frig hulls are taking big ships down. I use a Ishkur myself thing has 5 hob II and 4 Ecm drones in Bay little bastard is rough. Good read keep it up.

While I commend you and your teammates for the ship kill, going for the pod has always been bad form, in my opinion. Making him limp home in his pod is humiliation enough.
Only time I see podding as acceptable is if the guy podded me first. Otherwise, it's just not sporting and becomes more of a "gank" than good PvP.
Congrats, and nice work, Esch!

and i'm guessing your not a pirate? Pod's are great for ransoming, a guy like that raven with faction mods would have had a VERY high chance of having very expensive implants.

Usually I always carry ECM drones on my domi whle ratting. its helped save my bacon. Mission running is a bit more dangerous in some ways. I'd think about anchoring a warp bubble or two. I dont know why mission runners dont use those. This way he could have gotten that Sentinel
Like JGMII says I wish it were possible to fit a warp scram/disrupt on PVE fits instead of cap rechargers or whatever.
Well anyone ive never died while doing pve in 0.0 all this tiime ive played so good kill yo. It's a real rush doing the pvp. I'm trying to get my trading goin so I can just focus on pvp more myself
Nice work. Killing faction CNRs is one of my favorite hobbies.

Nope, not a pirate.
Nice kill
But it's hardly impossible... a lot more common than people might realize actually. Frigs are very deadly to BS if flown properly. Something people on these forums need to start learning to remember.

nice kill, this is why i fit large neuts on my battleships.
Yep, neut to kill the scram is such a nice way to escape.

Properly fitted frig will laugh at your large neut and just keep you pointed. Thats what cap injectors are for. If a frig is properly set up your only hope to escape is to manage to time your neut with his point cycle ending. Otherwise he just injects just before it re-fires the point.
With 2-3 frigs on it there isn't much a BS can do to escape unless it's got webbers and light drones. Don't get me wrong, you can escape a frig squad but it's not likely with more than 1 frig tackling you.

gives you a chance where previously you had none, very effective against vagabonds, good against most recons and hacs.
my interceptors are all injected, but id still feel very uncomfortable without a large neut
Agree completely, but it's not a get out of jail free card by any means. Even stabs won't do that As many tearful pilots have found out.
Personally I like packing a 15km webber and light drones as well as a warp disruptor, on top of the heavy neut. To hell with 'getting away'. I would rather just make them dead. Not that I fly battleships alone much... in fact almost never... but if I did, that's some of what I'd have on it.
