I have been playing a lot of games lately and they all seem to be lacking in some areas.
My latest has been EVE Online. Eve is an awesome game with unlimited possibilities but the PVP can be sparse and it is always final! Dying is not exactly a fun thing to do in EVE.
I played planetside when it came out in 2003 and it was an awesome game but it had HUGE lag problems. More than half the people that played were on dial-up and that made for a really weak system when it came to large scale battles. SO i quit after playing for 6 months or so. Well last week a buddy of mine decided to restart his account and teld me how much it has improved and i went back. And man is it AWESOME!!!
Planetside has some many cool features that make it unique and complex that it satisfies my need for complexity and the PVP action is INTENSE! IT is basically what BF2 and BF2142 could have been if they hadn't limited that crap out of it.
IT has all of the action of a game like those only in PS there are hundreds of people in battles all over the planet fighting for domination. There are no limits to how many vehicles can be in an area, no limit to how many people are around trying to kill you and no limit to the fun you can have!!!
There is nothing cooler than a giant fleet of airships barreling down on a heavily defended base or the intense room to room battles inside a base or the thrill of a massive invasion force of ground vehicles converging on an enemy stronghold.
I am tell you. If you are looking for a game with intense PVP action. Fast paced gameplay and a complex game mechanic that allows for REAL tactics to succeed this is your game.

I am actually considering taking a break from EVE because this game is so awesome!

I agree completely, this game was the shit... Then people left. I think that if they brought that year recruitment program in again, the numbers would go up a bit, I know 5 people (including myself) that are cheap bastards and would wait for such an opportunity
Lost a year of my life to this game - would be fun to come back and try it for awhile...
did they ever nerf air cav yet? or do the air whores on the forum there still think they are the greatest gamers of all time because they can farm infantry aka footzergers?

The whole point of it was to get people in the pub interested. All the people here already know PS rocks.
Since your trying to help promote the game and got thrown into the planetside forum, I'll do my part by giving you a bump on the front page (where it shows active forums)

Unfortunately I have a broken hand right now so i've been unable to play for the past 3 weeks but i look forward to getting back on once my hand is healed up.
What faction do you play? If you play NC then add my character Tigue to your list of friends and keep an eye out for me in the next 3 weeks or so. I'd be happy to join ya up to my outfit.
As for aircav - theyre constantly nerfing/rebalancing so I'd imagine they have. Aircave still hits hard, but they tend to run when you tag them with an AV missile or two.
I loaded PS last nite and i am using the 14 day free trial from the Beta Sony launcher. I played the game solid for almost 2 yrs but left because of low pops and lag. After playing most of the nite and coming to work tired today, I am definately going to Re-sub to the game. Looks like only having 2 servers (one for North America and one for Europe) fixed the population problems and i had zero lag running at high settings with a mediocre computer.

I too have come back to PS recently and am having a blast, just a shame that my old toon was deleted and that the lone Euro server is dead, i don't mind playing on the US one it's just that a ping of 120-140 is a bit of a disadvantage especially when it comes to sniping and 1 on 1 battles. I did read somewhere though that they were thinking about consolidating to a single server and that they were looking into the hardware side of things before making a decision, any idea if that's true?

There is talk of closing up Werner, since there's never anyone around (Instant action hasn't had any hotspots since the middle of last year), however Gemini always has some good action on it. Goodly amount of 3 way battles and always something going on. I'd recommend any Station people who haven't given it a go to get in there. It's not even a very big download.
Yes, the graphics are a bit tired, but (even from the EU) lag on Gemini is minimal and I often get a sub 100 ping from an 8MBit connection (though my contention ratio is nothing as I live in the middle of no-where and have an exchange to myself).
It's also not the Hackfest people think it is. Yes, there are some hackers about, but mostly you get shot becuase you simply screwed up.
Best of all, if you have all day, there's plenty of fun to be had, if you've only got an hour there's fun to be had. Not many Online games pull that off.

I have Vista and can not seem to get the game to work, whenever i load up it stops at the point of enterng the sancuary. Sure would like to come back and play, anyone else have this issue?

Planetside will forever hold a warm spot in my heart as my most favorite pvp game of all time. I would pay GOOD money to play a sequel that was true to the original but revamped for todays gaming rigs.
Damn.. i played alot of New/old mmorpg during alot of years and daamn i Totally! mean totally! regret that i havent even look at this game first when it came out i though it was like and car game or something like that. So after being totally bored with War/aoc/Lotro i tryed out this 14day trial and daamnn... the battles are totally awsome i love the fact that wars dosent limit that anything can happen and that 1 person cannot make thos uber killing sprees like bf2 and such cause its always some 1 that catches u behind a rock or something. I love that everything is balanced and the pvp is intense and love when they zerg the bases and they sky fills up with artillery/rockets/anti air shots totally awsome and i say if this game had a totall Graphic revamp and get more standarized with todays computers but still having that Old planetside feeling it would be a totally awsome game.
P.S In my Opinion this game hasnt the best Graphic but it still kicks every other MMORPG/mmofps out there.
Prove me wrong? try it 14 day trial you wont regret it.

Just when I got fired up to try my first true pvp love again,.... there doesn't seem to be a trial available at this moment. Am I just not looking hard enough? I miss my Jackhammer

Thanks for the link! I could not find it anywhere on the Station page.
Station.com does not even list the trial anywhere on their page, even though they list trials for games like Infantry! It seems like they are seriously trying to let it die. I played it a bit a long time ago, I miss this game. I know it has hackers going nuts lately, but I'll take a look for free.
