I wants to know whats best to use. I know that shields are good, but I have always liked Big Fat-Ass Weapons.
So please post your thoughts what to use, and why.

You can spec up in both .. I played a warrior to 25. I used my sword and shield for caster foes .. that shield bash is a godsend.
But I must say that Dual wield looked a good path also.
"And one and two and through and through his vorpal blade went snicker snack. He left it dead and with its head he went galumphing back.
"And hast thou slain the Jabbywock my son?"

In a group, 1h + shield is generally best, because you can hold agro much better without getting owned. Soloing, 2h, it does much more damage per hit so you kill single creeps efficiently, and in PvP, either 1h + shield against casters (that is absolutely crucial) and dual wield vs melee - it gets your rage up very quickly so you can pull off kill moves. (i'm asuming youre a warrior)
This is a much better explanation than I made and totally correct

I prefer 1H weapon + shield. I look at it this way. If I can outlast you, I win.
part of the appeal soloing with 2h for me is that 2h axes look so friggin cool- but they are horribly slow. What one must realize is that with very slow, hard hitting weapons, such as polearms and 2h axes, if you miss once or twice it can put you in a very bad situation. It is because of this that I would reccomend 1h + shield for lower lvl players until you get youre weapon skill up sufficiently enough to use 2h weapons withour a risk. Dual wield, while it hits only 75% of the time, hits so much that the 25% percent miss rate is negated. As I said before, if you just want to pummel people and mobs into submission, use a 2h weapon, but if you want to be sneaky about it using skills and spells, use dual wield, since it gets your rage up much faster. But always have a 1h + shield on you - you need them to face casters in PvP.
