Explain this game to me

NakedFuryNakedFury Member UncommonPosts: 411

Hello. I have read about Champions Online before but I still think of this as the same as COH/COV. I am right? I am even reading wikipedia now and from what it says the only diferences that are plainly visible to me are:

More of an action oriented game.

Much more customization for your character

cross platform servers

version for 360

Can this game be explained to me please? Is it just City of Heroes 2 with a different name?

Is every fantasy game just versions of each other?  Is every SCI-FI game just versions of each other?  If you say yes to those questions, then for you Champions Online is probably going to be COX 2. And DC Universe will be COX 3.

I find that each game, regardless if the theme has been done before, is different in Some respects, from the other games in the theme.  For example Wow, Lotro, EQ and EQ 2, AOC, etc are all the same theme but are different in some aspects.  Not everyone likes every game,   You can like a theme - Fantasy - without liking how each game treats that theme.

So, in essence, in my honest opinion, NO, Champions Online is not going to be COX 2.  However, since none of us, excluding the beta testers, have played the game - none of us actually know the answer to that question.

By the way, I am older than you - Are you the same as me, you are human... you must be just elderotter 2.  lol. peace.

Well, its based on a completely different storyline. Graphics are completely different. Gameplay is almost completely different (no click and wait). Oh..except they are both about heroes, so maybe you're right :P

Read the hundreds of articles about it, and you'll see only at a very high level is it like city of heroes. Not that it would be a bad thing if it was like CoX. That was a great game, although these days its a bit dated, and dull.

Not even close...this is what CoH SHOULD have been from the start.

The gameplay will be different because there are no archtypes, and it's mechanics are based on twitch games like Quake, not click-and-wait like Everquest. Other than the fact that they are both based in the superhero genre, I am not seeing a lot of crossover.
