I Know How You Americans Hate Socialism...

DevourDevour Member Posts: 902

But, you do all realise that, for the past 7-odd years, Aventurine has been living out of the hand of the Greek government, right? Since the Greeks give a GREAT DEAL of tax reductions, health care and grants to unfinished projects.

Hence why Aventurine moved there in 2002. Because, well, they couldn't pay for themselves, so they had to go to another country, in order to reap the benefits of another country's socialist system. Hence the name change.

Now, my question is, are they STILL gaining these benefits, due to the fact they haven't made an open release, or what? I suspect they are, which is an extremely bad offence, and would get the company shut down, probably permanently.

I'm sorry, but what the hell does this have to do with being an American? Seriously. Grow up. If it's one thing I can't stand is small minded idiots that make gross generalizations on people by country. I'm not a socialist, but I'm informed enough to know that on paper it works, it fails when you add in power hungry human beings. That can be said of ANY form of government. That and if anything their are more EU folks playing that game then anything.

careful! or America might turn into sweden, with you know... good healthcare and.... oh hell that alone is enough.

but on topic, I don't get what this topic has to do with darkfall.  yes, we know they got money from the goverment, that was posted like 1-2 years ago.  if you wanted to post a topic about the game not really being released yet do it like this.

Why Doesn't darkfall let people buy their game?  No other MMO has ever done this.  Even if darkfall was a game from the gods it wouldn't matter because people can't play it.

see? thats so much more to the point.

That's the point I was probably not being very clear about. I'm wondering if they're operating under the government grants still, based upon the fact they've not had an open release yet, and if that's entirely legal in Greece, as it seems to be using the word, and yet not the spirit of the law, if it is.

( By the way, some of the conservative estimates on this board suggests around $2 million made. )

so you are asking "is AV still considering their game in devolopment so they can get the extra help from the goverment that would stop once they release the game and it starts making money on its own"?

I doubt they would answer that.

I don't understand the question really.

AV moved to Greece for access to warmer weather and bikini clad girls on beaches year round.

They moved to Athens not one of our islands:P

At best they have a good supply of souvlaki and ouzo XD (which may justify some of their design choices)

Greece may be a socialist country but Aventurine has it's own regime and that is:

First of all, Greece+socialism = big joke.

The only benefit they have in Greece is that some taxes concerning bussinesses are lower or can be circumvented much easier, plus it's easier to get a bank loan.

The only "socialist" funds they could have a remote chance of getting are the ones the EU gives. Nothing else.

Believe me according to the Greek tax system, what they have is an open release with every obligation that includes.

The American's don't hate socialism.  With the recession and all, and their semi-nationalisation of huge swathes of the financial system they would make Tony Benn proud.

    Nice post.

Also, this is based on the company's behaviour for the MMO, so, try harder.

Yeah, I hate the idea of socialism.  Redistrubuting wealth to the lazy turds of the country and having the government control everything is a BAD way to go. Seriously.
