Hey Everyone,
Now that Eve is celebrating its sixth anniversary, I was wondering if it is too late to start playing? I have been playing AoC for the last 8 months and have become bored and looking for something new. The games premise and setting looks cool.
Thanks for the input.

Nope, not too late at all. Give the trial a shot and see what happens.
In a word: No.
A friend of mine has been playing it and talked me into it recently. I just d/l the client last night and am playing. Going to stick with it at least until Star Trek Online hits (or I get in STO beta if I'm lucky).

Depends on what you mean by "too late".
Just don't listen to people, when they say you'll never catch up.
Find someone to take you under their wing, if you're confused.

Thanks for the quick input. Think I will download it tonight. Be gentle.
the community is very helpful, good luck. oh, and we're not going to go easy on you because you're a newbie, but if you ask me nicely i might explain what you did wrong while im scooping your loot and if you're really nice, i might even give you some isk towards a new ship... but only if none of my mates are looking
The only day that can be said it is too late to start playing EVE is the day it is shut down.
Til then enjoy til you get bored. Then take a month off during that time you'll miss it and play it again til you get bored again and the cycle continues. Just kidding that only happens to some people. Don't fall into the I can't be as uberest as that guy trap of being to late. There is plenty to do at all levels and styles.

I remember when I first asked around about starting out in this game on various forums and said my goal was to help takedown BoB. People lol'ed and said I was nuts and I would never 'catch up'. Here we are just a few yrs later. BoB is permadead and has gotten what they have deserved for their cheats and lies and exploits
People just dont get EVE. still to this day I prefer to fly my Thorax for gangs over the t2 ships I can fly. I've been a top contributer in DPS to some kills. Okay not trying to self glorify I am no where near awesome in the least. Just saying, what the 'haters' say about catch up isnt true
My only gripe with skills system is other areas but that is not even worth mentioning.
Most long time players here now welcome all new pod pilots. So no it is not to late depending on if you listen to advise given.
MAGA
Btw other day there was thread where a gal pirate form perkone killed an Arazu in a rifter solo. An arazu, though surely not the most highly respected t2 recon in the game, is still highly formidable.
A rifter, piloted by 30 day old newbie, solo'ed it
This happens all the time.
crazy shiii happens all the time everyday. Even myself I sometimes just pilot my vigil for fun. I love t1 frigs. so small and light and cheap. I'm trying to get all my buds to just go all t1 for gangs and give it a go.
Its all about getting into the right corp. All bout that. If you join corp and they tell you some shit you must stay in highsec drop those punks ASAP. Newbies can surely help tackle, etc
lol i feel ya man, i love my t1 frig (amaar punisher), almost perfect fits and so damn cheap. im still rockin lvl 2 missions without any probs, gonna give lvl 3s a go see what happens
It's never too late. This game was four years old when I joined and I never had any problems.
As far as pvp, EvE isn't really about 1v1 (though it can be if you try hard enough, but I digress) and most non-DPS roles can be filled by a rookie fairly quickly (a month or less). And even if you want to be the master of melting faces you can be in a fast roaming gang in an Assault Frigate in a couple of months and do as well in that role as someone who's been playing for years, if you really want to.
In EvE, Teamwork > Player Skills > Character Skills > Gear > Time Investment
I like it, /signed.
