Ever since he replied to Eurogamers review, DF has became the hot potato on the internet!

I wont even start linking on 200+ post threads in just about every gaming website on the internet.

I believe it was Donald Trump that said "There's no such thing as bad pr" and darkfall just got its name printed out just about everywhere in internet for free.

Publicity and PR are two COMPLETELY different things.

    Both can be free.

    Both can be good.

But ONLY PR can be controlled.

Darkfall is getting publicity, not PR, and not all of it is good. If it were PR, it would ALL be good, because that is what you pay for.

Oh yeah you can hit the front page of every media if you go assassin Obama or Premier Wu of China.  That does not mean you will be receiving good views.

Same for a business, you can get sued by every creditor by defaulting all bills and gain a lot of publicity.  That does not mean you business will last longer.

    As I've stated in two other post already;

There is no such thing as bad advertising,

which works out very well for all parties concerned, don't you think?

Ad is actively selecting and showing your strength (however fake).

Publicity as being caught in bed with the wrong women by the media, is not voluntary, not planned and maybe unwanted.  It does not always work wonders for you.

    Tasos Flambouras = David Bowman

They are both scoundrels, that know very little about the MMORPG industry and are nothing but slick talking, self important salesmen. Tasos Flambouras is s incredibly inept, they couldn't even develop a better mount & blade with a $20M budget and a working copy of what he has to duplicate.

They only thing they got right, which was something they needed to actually make better, was the drag & drop loot. His incompetence is incredible and should've been fired 6 months ago when the first beta testers started leaking how dilusional this retard actually is.

Oh, yeah? That would make Jar Jar the best Star wars character, he had 10 000 hate pages one week after Phantom menace released.

And Supersize me dropped Mcdonalds profits for several months.

It is good for DF to have most publicity but this is really not the kind you want. There is a reason no other game company do stuff like this. Tasos should let his markeeting people handle stuff like this, when AoC got bad reviews they let Erling Erlingson do the talk (yes, he lie as every other marketeer but he would never do something like this).

Not even Bono do stuff like this when a U2 record gets a bad review, if it would have been a good idea, then everyone would.

Bad advertising have killed a lot of companies, the stocks falls for this kind of stunts.

But you are forgetting an important part of this equation...

DarkFall is already operating at capacity.

So... the extra publicity does exactly what for them?   I'm curious to hear what exactly is the GOOD outcome of this for DarkFall.  I would agree with you completely if they had the capacity for more players.  This would definitely drive up subscriptions and get a number of people to buy the game on pure curiosity alone.

    But...

When DarkFall is not currently selling the game... and the lone server is at capacity...

Umm...  well... I think Tasos might have missed a step or two in the plan.

That is so very, very wrong. If you equate fame and infamy, your statement would be somewhat valid, but still incorrect. Bad advertising does not do what it is intended to do: inform and explain. You may be thinking of promotion, which is equated with closing the sale.

Having everyone know your product does not = good advertising. They may all know it, but your crappy "advertising" may make them all loathe it. There is such a thing as bad advertising, and it's everywhere. Look at the adds of that NBA star (Something James) trampling all over sacred Asian symbols in an Ad. THAT is classic bad advertising. You must think that just because people know your product, it is good for business. There are too many things wrong with that train of thought for me to conduct it.

In short, what you said in those other two posts, and in this one, is fallacious.

DF at capacity is only temporary, or they are folding up fast.  No game can survive with only 1 paid server.  Let alone recoup investment.

Negative after negative news, they will soon be filling their only server with coded NPCs.

Yeah, he realizes that his game and the lack of professionalism can only be overcome by his ability to make himself look dumber than a 5th grader.  Excellent plan... indeed.

Actually, what Tasos has done is PR: it's called "damage control", although he's done so in a fairly childish manner. It would have been better if he said nothing at all. That way he might have saved a bit of face by not rebutting like a grade-schooler.
